Head of Engineering (m/w/d)

Your Tasks

• You are part of the Product-&-Technology-Leadership-Teams, reporting directly to the CTPO and bearing full responsibility for engineering execution throughout the entire company.
• You take over end-to-end responsibility for reliable delivery, ensuring realistic commitments, high result quality, and continuous improvement.
• You establish and develop our engineering operating model continuously – from planning and development to releases and operation up to incident management.
• You balance speed, stability, and technical risk and are responsible for platform stability, security, and architectural integrity.
• You lead, mentor, and scale engineering leadership teams and enable teams to work with clear responsibility, ownership, and autonomy.
• You accompany the transition to value stream-oriented teams and build resilient leadership structures.
• You work closely with product and data leads together to shape priorities, timelines, dependencies, and trade-offs.
• You create transparency through meaningful key figures and qualitative signals and communicate progress, risks, and limitations clearly to management.

Your Profile

• Multiple years of senior experience in leading engineering organizations during growth, scaling, or transformation phases, with clear responsibility for delivery and operational excellence.
• Calm, clear, and honest leadership style, even under pressure, with the ability to make trade-offs and represent them.
• Numerable experience in leading and developing leaders – not just individual contributors.
• Outstanding architectural judgment in productive web platforms, as well as a deep understanding of reliability, risks, and system behavior.
• Pragmatic technical approach: frameworks and programming languages are less decisive than systems thinking and sound judgment (experience with Ruby on Rails and React is a plus).
