Head of Engineering Design (m/w/d)

In this role, you will be responsible for a 12-member construction team and shape the technical further development of sophisticated product solutions for mechanical engineering and automotive industry.

This is not about standard construction "according to schema F", but about customer-specific solutions where function, material, manufacturing, quality, and economy must work together seamlessly.

You will lead your team professionally and personally, bring structure to development processes, and ensure that technical requirements result in robust, series-ready solutions.

In short, you think construction not just as a drawing, but as an engineering task with responsibility for the outcome.

Tasks

You will take on the professional and disciplinary leadership of a 12-member construction team and develop the department technically and organizationally further.

Your tasks include especially:

• Development of customer-specific product and system solutions
• Construction of individual parts, assemblies, and complex technical solutions up to series readiness
• Steering and prioritization of construction projects in close coordination with sales, development, procurement, and production
• Techincal sparring partner for internal interfaces and customers on challenging constructive questions

Qualification

Experience**: Several years of construction experience in a manufacturing industry environment, with at least first leadership experience.

Education**: Study in mechanical engineering, plastics technology, or a comparable technical qualification.

Skills**: Familiarity with CAD systems (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD), project management skills, excellent communication skills, self-initiative, and team leadership with a sense of touch.
