HITS.NRW is a newly founded, central IT service provider for public universities in North Rhine-Westphalia.

What awaits you

As Head of Cybersecurity, you will take over the technical leadership of the department and ensure that the IT services of HITS.NRW meet the highest security standards. You combine strategic thinking with technical know-how and shape the cybersecurity landscape in the university field.

• You lead and develop the Cybersecurity team further and strengthen professional competencies to ensure a smooth and secure operation.
• In addition, you take over responsibility for the security architecture of our Cloud Services – from conception to definition of technical standards to continuous optimization.
• A special focus lies on the Security Operation Center, which you develop continuously with internal and external partners and ensure a reliable 24/7 operation.
• You develop the Cybersecurity strategy of HITS.NRW further, set concrete goals and measures, and ensure that these are implemented in all areas.
• In the context of projects, you plan and steer resources, budgets, and timelines, ensure transparent results, and advise universities, partners, and stakeholders on security-relevant topics.
• Last but not least, you ensure that all governance, risk, and compliance requirements (ISO 27001, BSI, GDPR) are met and drive the continuous development of our security processes forward.

What you bring

• A completed degree in the MINT field, e.g. (Economic) Informatics, IT Security or comparable qualification
• Multiple years of experience in Cybersecurity, at least 2 years in a leadership position
• Fundamental knowledge in SOC, Incident Response, SIEM, Network & Cloud Security, IAM & IDS
• Experience in project and service management (responsibility for costs, time, and quality)
• Knowledge of common standards and frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, BSI IT-Grundschutz)
• Very good German and English skills as well as excellent communication skills
• NRW-wide travel readiness (mostly monthly to bi-weekly meetings in Düsseldorf + need-based travels in NRW)
