Head of Accounting (m/w/d)

Your Mission

We are looking for you as Head of Accounting (m/w/d) in our headquarters in Munich or our capital office in Berlin.

As Head of Accounting (m/w/d), you will lead a team of around 7 employees both technically and disciplinarily. You are responsible for the accounting and tax-related topics of the international company group (currently 5 companies including USA) and design processes and structures. In close cooperation with FP&A, Controlling, and the Head of Finance (to whom you will report), you will support the CFO in strategic initiatives such as M&A projects and internationalization.

• Leadership and Team Management: You will take over the technical and disciplinary leadership of the accounting team and set standards for the development of competencies and team culture. With your team, you have overall responsibility for all accounting and tax-related topics of the company group.
• Financial Reporting and Control: You coordinate and are responsible for the preparation of almost closed monthly and annual financial statements according to HGB, IFRS, and US GAAP together with our external auditors – both at individual company and group level.
• Transfer Pricing and Intercompany Management: You are responsible for the further development of transfer prices (transfer pricing) as well as the management of internal services (intercompany charges).
• Compliance and Audit: You are the first point of contact for all accounting and tax-related topics and coordinate cooperation with tax consultants, banks, and auditors.
• Strategic Support and Innovation: You will work on strategic projects such as transactions or financing issues and design new processes, lead projects, and develop our IT systems further.

Your Skillset

• Academic Career: You have a completed degree in economics, ideally with a focus on accounting/budgeting or a comparable qualification (e.g., international accountant).
• Relevant Work Experience: You have at least 7 years of experience in the accounting field (ideally background in one of the Big4) in dynamic, fast-growing companies. Additionally, you have experience in group accounting.
• Leadership: You have already led medium-sized teams, are not afraid to be hands-on, and enjoy bringing your team forward and sharing your knowledge as a sparring partner.
• Accounting Excellence: You have excellent knowledge of accounting according to IFRS and HGB, bring experience in preparing almost closed monthly and annual financial statements, have a secure handling of bookkeeping processes, and fundamental knowledge in the tax and compliance environment.
