HAZOP/LOPA Facilitator

In this role, you will facilitate HAZOPs (or other process-related assessments) for clients. You will take the lead in the entire process. Support with administrative tasks is provided for larger assignments. Preparations and reporting are usually done at the office, with effective sessions primarily at client sites. Frequent travel to clients is a given.

• Prepare and facilitate HAZOP, LOPA, and other risk assessment methodologies (such as WhatIf, HAZID, BCC, FMECA, etc.).
• Moderate multidisciplinary teams during sessions.
• Analyze and interpret technical documentation (P&IDs, PFDs, process descriptions).
• Draft clear and accurate reports and recommendations.
• Monitor the follow-up of actions and recommendations from studies.
• Advise clients on risk reduction and optimization of safety systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., IEC 61511).
• Provide internal and external training or workshops in the field of process safety.

• You hold a Master's degree (or equivalent by experience) in a technical field, such as industrial or civil engineering (e.g., chemistry, process technology, environment, safety).
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in the field.
• Knowledge of Belgian and European legislation on process safety (Seveso, ATEX, etc.).
• Experience in providing training is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills with an eye for risks AND feasible solutions.
• Independent, customer-oriented, and quality-conscious.
• Flexibly deployable across different sectors and client environments.
• You can convey technical concepts understandably to diverse audiences.
• You speak and write Dutch and English fluently; knowledge of French and/or German is a plus.
• Higher professional education and thinking level, preferably in a technical direction.
• Demonstrable experience in facilitating HAZOP/LOPA studies.
• Good knowledge of process safety and risk management.
• Strong communication skills and leadership in a team setting.
• Knowledge of software tools like "PHA-pro" is a plus.
• Certification as a HAZOP facilitator is a plus.
