Job description

The Diakonie Heidenheim is an organization of the Evangelical Church District Heidenheim. Its range of responsibilities extends from family and life counseling, the psychosocial counseling and outpatient treatment center for addicts and those at risk of addiction, debt counseling, and outpatient hospice care, to the Women's and Children's Shelter. There, women and their children find temporary refuge and protection from violence and are provided with psychosocial support by female professionals.

The Diakonie is seeking for our Women's and Children's Shelter, starting from January 1, 2027,

a Caretaker

The position is initially limited to 2 years, with the prospect of permanent employment. The scope of work is 12.5% (4.9 weekly hours). Remuneration is according to TVöD/KAO (EG 5).

Responsibilities

You will support the female staff and the residents with their children where manual skills are required and take care of the house and garden. Your tasks include mowing the lawn and pruning trees in the garden, as well as various small repairs in and around the house. If external companies are involved, you will coordinate their deployment in consultation with the house management.

Qualifications

In addition to manual dexterity and a "roll up your sleeves" mentality, discretion and tact are particularly important for working in the extremely sensitive environment of a Women's and Children's Shelter. We expect communication skills and the ability to coordinate with employees. A valid driver's license is a basic requirement for employment.

A vocational training in a trade is of course desirable, but we are also willing to give suitable career changers a chance.

Benefits

  • An interesting, varied, and meaningful job in a protected environment

  • Independent work in consultation with a team

  • Collective bargaining pay according to TVöD/KAO EG 5

  • 2 ½ additional days off beyond the statutory public holidays
