Professional security of all Defence locations is part of this. This is the work of the approximately 2,500 DBBO employees, who work 24/7 together on the armed security of Defence TBBs, the Assets to be Protected, of people and materiel. The role of Team Leader is relatively new within DBBO. In this position, you will lead a team of 10 to 15 security guards. This makes it a unique opportunity to directly contribute to shaping and further developing this important role. Your expertise and leadership skills are of great value here!

Does this appeal to you? Then read on quickly and find out what else this job has to offer. You can also listen to our podcast https://open.spotify.com/episode/5JE5Qzw9M8hXSRS09Spv2M?si=CjiJQgAHTs6Ouf0ORUV_eg. This podcast will also provide more information about the job as a Team Leader at DBBO.

Where will you work? Your work location is the Lieutenant General Best Barracks in Vredepeel. You will do this in a civilian appointment, meaning you are not a member of the armed forces, but you still work for Defence and wear a uniform and carry a weapon in your work. The Lieutenant General Best Barracks is the home base of ground-based air defence (DGLC). More than 800 Defence employees work at this barracks, and this number is growing. You will report to the Commander Patrol Area Vredepeel. Your team includes a Shift Coordinator and Security Officers. There is also close collaboration with the Operations Officer Patrol Area/Planner and the Operations Officer/PLV – Commander Patrol Area Brunssum.

What will you do? Sites, buildings, vehicles: everything belonging to Defence must be guarded and secured. Our DBBO teams ensure this. Together, they perform a combination of tasks. For example, think of access controls, observations, patrols, and interventions. The DBBO Team Leader is a team leader, and your tasks include: • Leading, motivating, and coaching your team, which includes security guards and the Shift Coordinator. • Ensuring a good and safe working environment and a well-functioning team. • Coordinating the deployment of personnel and resources within your shift team, ensuring timely availability and good rosters and planning. • Safeguarding the employability of employees, preventing absence, promoting and guiding training and development. • Conducting performance and development interviews. • Preparing and ensuring timely and accurate reports. • Replacing direct superiors and subordinates if necessary or desired. • Coordinating with colleagues and proposing improvements. • Advising management on all operational and personnel matters.

To perform these tasks effectively, you will, like all team members, not only be well-trained but also equipped with a firearm, baton, and handcuffs.

Please note: due to working hours and safe commuting, we will consider a maximum commute distance and travel time of 40 minutes or 40 km during the selection process.
