An interesting company is looking for a Product Owner / Software Business Analyst to work on requirements, writing user stories, working with a variety of customers projects utilising modern AI & leading edge dev practices :-)
An ambitious Christchurch-based startup is looking for a Product Owner / Business Analyst to join them at a genuinely early stage. This is a rare opportunity to be employee number three, working directly with the founders to shape a product from the ground up.

This is a hands-on, generalist role where you’ll own requirements, backlog, and quality, helping turn real business needs into a product customers love - sound like you?
What you’ll bring:
- BSc, BEng, BA, BCom or similar degree
- Students currently studying or have just finished a Masters or PhD course of high interest
- 3 months - 1 year internship or commercial experience in a Product Owner, Business Analyst, QA, dev or similar role (depth matters more than years)
- Comfortable writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and managing a product backlog
- Enjoy working closely with founders in a fast-moving environment
- Confident translating business needs into practical, buildable requirements
- Happy rolling up your sleeves with manual testing and release validation
- Strong communicator across both technical and non-technical conversations
- Actively using AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Claude, etc.) to boost productivity
- Familiarity with Agile tools such as Jira, Linear, or similar (or keen to learn)
- Enjoy seeing new features & functionality come to life for customers
- 6-month fixed-term contract to start
- Clear path to a permanent role with equity (ESOP) for the right person
