Government Affairs Lead

We are seeking a legal professional with solid experience in litigation, dealing with authorities, and financial sector regulation, with the ability to lead contentious matters, define legal strategies, and coordinate responses to requests from authorities.

This position will be responsible for managing contingencies and mitigating legal risks, working cross-functionally with different areas of the bank and coordinating external law firms.

What will you do?

• Define and lead the litigation strategy of Openbank Mexico, managing the portfolio of contentious matters and legal contingencies.
• Manage and supervise the handling of requests from authorities, ensuring timely, consistent, and well-supported responses.
• Coordinate the handling of requests and hearings before CONDUSEF, both in-person and remote, as well as the preparation and validation of the corresponding reports.
• Supervise the handling of requests received through SITI AA and other official channels, in coordination with the involved areas.
• Prepare, review, and approve briefs, lawsuits, defenses, appeals, responses to official letters, opinions, and legal reports.
• Coordinate the information and evidence necessary for handling lawsuits, audits, hearings, and requests from authorities.
• Supervise and coordinate external law firms, defining procedural strategies and tracking assigned matters.
• Advise the various areas of Openbank Mexico on claims, clarifications, and matters that may represent a legal or regulatory risk for the entity.
• Manage systems and platforms of authorities such as Banco de México and CONDUSEF, including MAE, PUR, SIPRES, RECA, REDECO, and REUNE.
• Lead the area's team, setting priorities, supervising results, and promoting efficient management of legal matters.

What are we looking for?

• Law Degree, with a valid professional license.
• Postgraduate degree or specialization in Litigation, Amparo, or Procedural Law is desirable.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in litigation and/or legal areas within the financial sector.
• Experience leading teams and managing contentious matters and legal contingencies.
• Solid knowledge of Procedural Law, Litigation, Amparo, Financial Law, and Regulatory Law, as well as the legal framework applicable to financial institutions.
• Experience defining procedural strategies and coordinating and supervising external law firms.
• Experience in drafting, reviewing, and approving legal and procedural documents.
• Experience coordinating responses to requests from authorities and working with business, technology, and operations teams.
• Desirable experience in conciliation hearings and CONDUSEF systems, as well as in handling requests via SITI AA.
• Intermediate English.
