Are you a leader focused on operational excellence and possessing in-depth expertise in customs at the US and global levels? SSENSE is seeking a Customs Operations Manager to take charge of our incoming and outgoing customs activities on key international markets.

This is your chance to transform our transborder logistics on the critical US market, directly improving our efficiency, agility, and competitive advantage. You will be the tactical driving force ensuring that products circulate quickly beyond borders, minimizing delays and accelerating our market entry in a high-volume e-commerce environment with rapid pace.

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, you will not only manage operations but also build, define, and execute the operational foundation supporting SSENSE's global supply chain.

What You Will Do

• Lead High-Speed Customs Operations: Manage and direct daily customs operations, ensuring an uninterrupted flow of B2B and B2C shipments at high volume. Target superior performance by monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as speed and accuracy of clearance, and proactively resolving issues in systems like Zendesk to minimize customs delays.
• Develop Strategic Program for the US Market: Lead the development and implementation of a robust, compliant, and effective import program at the US level, ensuring complete understanding and execution of US import requirements.
• Manage and Optimize External Partnerships: Supervise and strengthen relationships with customs brokers, service providers, and regulatory authorities on key markets (primarily the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU), ensuring smooth execution of all incoming and outgoing transactions.
• Promote Excellence in Processes and Continuous Improvement: Identify critical process gaps and leverage technology to improve data quality and integrity. Direct the definition, documentation, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and compliance manuals for internal teams and external partners.
• Navigate Evolving Commercial Landscape: Proactively monitor the rapidly evolving commercial landscape, particularly in the US, to anticipate changes in customs policies and develop viable and profitable solutions to mitigate operational impact on stakeholders.
• Mobilize and Develop a High-Performing Team: Lead hiring, integration, and development of the Customs Operations team. Provide constant guidance, conduct performance evaluations, and deliver regular and targeted training to your team and key interfunctional partners (e.g., Procurement, Logistics).
