Geomechanics Fracture Modelling Specialist

The Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (ENGINE) in Bengaluru India brings together the resources and expertise of the Chevron global network with talent in India to enhance agility and technological innovation to optimize solutions for the world’s current and future energy challenges. As one of the leading energy providers worldwide, Chevron is involved in the production of crude oil and natural gas, manufacturing of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, and additives. The ENGINE team is seeking a highly skilled Geomechanics Fracture Modelling Specialist to join our team in Bengaluru. This role will be responsible for developing and applying advanced geomechanical models to optimize the extraction of hydrocarbons from complex geological formations. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and maintaining advanced geomechanical models using commercial software such as COMSOL, ABAQUS, or FLAC3D. • Conducting sensitivity analyses and uncertainty quantification for geomechanical models. • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate geomechanical models into larger reservoir simulation frameworks. • Developing and implementing novel numerical methods for solving complex partial differential equations in geomechanics. • Providing technical guidance and support to project teams on the application of advanced geomechanical models. • Staying up-to-date with advancements in geomechanics, computational fluid dynamics, and machine learning, and applying this knowledge to improve model development and application. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geomechanics, fracture mechanics, or related fields, and experience working with commercial software for geomechanical modeling. A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Geomechanics, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ is an asset.
