This position is responsible for management and analysis of geospatial data, creating maps, and utilising GIS tools to optimise technical investigations, design, exploration, mining, and environmental operations for the Waihi North Project and existing operation. The role supports mine development consent applications, regular reporting, and HSE duties in compliance with New Zealand regulatory standards and local stakeholder expectations.

  • Integrate GIS data with environmental monitoring systems and mine planning software specific to Waihi north Project and Waihi operations.
  • Create and/or import new and updated data into the GIS system, incorporating robust data validation processes.
  • Produce maps, plans, and cross-sections from GIS or other software as required, ensuring data quality and consistency across all Waihi projects, including legacy datasets and new data.
  • Liaise with other departments, consultants, and external agencies (NZPAM, WorkSafe, local councils) for specific GIS data and plan requests in a timely manner.
  • Document and maintain clear metadata for all spatial datasets.
  • Update spatial databases to reflect changes in mine infrastructure, environmental boundaries, and exploration targets unique to Waihi.
  • Implement data backup and disaster recovery protocols tailored to Waihi’s operational needs.

  • Support the preparation of consent applications and environmental impact assessments with accurate GIS data.
