Job description

Introduction

You are the person behind the controls when high voltage is at stake. As a Generator Operator, you have control over the installations that literally make the energy world run. A unique role for someone who takes technology seriously.

Where you will work:

You will be working at a specialized technical laboratory in the Arnhem region that plays a key role in the energy transition. In this lab, electrical components are tested and certified before they find their way to energy grids worldwide.

The organization works with advanced testing equipment and is active for clients from all over the world. Innovation is central: continuous investment is made in new technologies and testing methods to meet the ever-stricter requirements of the electricity industry.

It is an environment where technical craftsmanship is valued and where your work directly contributes to a safe and reliable energy supply—now and in the future.

What you will do:

As a Generator Operator, you are responsible for controlling six generator sets used for short-circuit tests. From the control room, you maintain an overview: you monitor test procedures, measurements, and safety systems, and are in close contact with the test team.

During a test, you are the lead in the machine building. This requires not only technical knowledge but also decisiveness and a keen eye for what is happening on the floor. If something goes wrong during a shift, you are the one who, together with colleagues, detects and resolves the fault—both electrical and mechanical.

Outside of test periods, you work on the maintenance and availability of the installations at the entire site. This includes work on control systems, mechanical components, and generator maintenance.

Once every five weeks, you will work a night shift, for which you receive an average allowance of 12% to 14% on all hours.

Tasks:

  • Operating and monitoring high-voltage installations from the control room
  • Controlling short-circuit generators during tests
  • Detecting and resolving faults, both electrical and mechanical
  • Maintenance and inspection of generators and control systems
  • Ensuring the availability and reliability of installations at the site
  • Close collaboration with colleagues from maintenance and operations

What we ask:

  • Work experience and/or background in electrical engineering, with an affinity for mechanical engineering
  • Familiarity with high-voltage safety and associated protocols
  • Resilient under pressure and decisive in a responsible environment
  • Good team player who can also work independently
  • Good command of the Dutch and/or English language (oral and written)

What we offer:

Financial conditions:

  • Gross hourly wage of €20.59 - €26.08 (including average night shift allowance of 12-14%, 1x per 5 weeks)
  • 8% holiday pay (paid weekly)
  • Travel expenses reimbursement of €0.23 per km

Other conditions:

  • Weekly payout
  • 25 vacation days per year (based on full-time)
  • Pension accrual: 23.4% of the pensionable amount
  • Minimum of 38 hours per week, with the possibility of overtime (up to 50 hours)

Additional services (optional):

  • Accommodation with a private bedroom possible
  • Health insurance through EU Force possible
