Job description
In short
- You ensure that Schiphol maintains insight into its energy supply. Thanks to your work, we can better manage grid congestion, support the energy transition, and detect deviations early to prevent disruptions.
- The Functional Management Monitoring & Control Team consists of 7 colleagues who work daily on improving and future-proofing the applications that play a crucial role within Schiphol's infrastructure. As a Functional Administrator Energy Management, you are the point of contact for the applications within this domain.
- You combine IT knowledge with electrical engineering expertise, effortlessly navigating between users, technical specialists, and suppliers.
About the role
As a Functional Administrator Energy Management, you contribute to the digitalization ambitions of the Business Platform Infrastructure & IT Projects (BPIP). You are part of the Functional Management Team within Process & Monitoring Technology and, together with an experienced colleague, you are responsible for the applications that monitor and support Schiphol's low and high voltage grids. And how do you do that? In your own way. We rely on your technical expertise, analytical skills, and ownership to realize smart solutions for a complex and dynamic environment. You will apply your talents to:
- managing and optimizing Energy Management applications such as Power Monitoring Expert (PME) and ADMS, including supporting the implementation of Smart Grid applications.
- analyzing incidents and disruptions using log files, server management, software updates, and technical troubleshooting.
- improving management processes so that applications remain reliable, manageable, and future-proof.
- unlocking energy data from thousands of energy points and translating it into usable insights for stakeholders.
- developing dashboards and reports to detect deviations early and prevent disruptions in the energy grid.
- supporting and training users so they can make optimal use of the available monitoring and management tools.
- collaborating with Technical Experts, suppliers, and (Operational) Installation Managers to continuously improve the performance, reliability, and safety of the electricity grid.
- contributing to the further digitalization of Schiphol by elevating monitoring, reporting, and control of the energy infrastructure to a higher level.
The Monitoring & Control department within BPIP provides the applications and services that are essential for monitoring and controlling Schiphol's infrastructure. Within the Energy Management cluster, you will manage, among other things, Power Monitoring Expert (low voltage), ADMS (high voltage), and PACis. Additionally, you will work with colleagues responsible for systems such as ALCMS, Klivia, DesigoCC, and Traka.
What you bring
You feel at home at the intersection of IT and electrical engineering. You understand how applications work, but also their impact on an operational energy environment. You are curious, analytically strong, and enjoy building smart solutions with colleagues that truly make a difference. Additionally, you have:
- Bachelor's degree (HBO) level of working and thinking.
- at least 3 years of experience as a Functional Administrator of On-Prem applications or in a similar role.
- experience with technical application management, software updates, server management, and incident analysis.
- experience in translating user needs into practical IT solutions.
- strong communication skills and the ability to switch between different stakeholders.
- a structured way of working, allowing you to maintain an overview in an environment where multiple tasks are performed in parallel.
- demonstrable basic knowledge of electrical engineering, enabling you to be a fully-fledged sparring partner for Technical Experts, Installation Managers, and other specialists in the energy domain.
- affinity with energy supplies, energy management systems, or industrial monitoring and control systems is a strong plus.
Why this role is unique:
Not many roles combine functional management, energy management, and critical infrastructure on this scale. At Schiphol, you don't just work on applications; you directly contribute to the reliability of the energy supply for an airport that operates 24/7. You will directly see the impact of your work in operations, collaborate with experts from various disciplines, and play an active role in Schiphol's energy transition. This makes this role technically challenging, socially relevant, and incredibly versatile.
What you get
- € 4851 to € 6754 gross per month (scale 11).
- A 13th month's salary.
- An NS-Business Card that fully reimburses travel by public transport to and from work.
- Option for a lease bicycle.
- You will receive an iPhone from us.
- Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) arrangement where you can spend €450 to set up your own (home) workspace.
- Participation in the ABP pension fund.
- 180 vacation hours.
These are just a few of our employment conditions associated with this position (based on a 36-hour work week). Schiphol has even more to offer you. For a complete overview of all employment conditions, visit Employment Conditions - Working at Schiphol.
