Job description
Social Value GmbH develops and manages digital participation formats such as donation competitions, crowd votings, and corporate awards. With these, we help regionally established companies to make their social commitment measurable, build new digital reach, and position themselves positively in their region.
Since 2008, we have channeled over 20.7 million euros to 47,000 club projects. Our work is based on reliability and partnership at eye level.
What makes the role at our company special
We are not looking for a pure ticket-processing machine, nor for an overarching management position. We are looking for a pragmatic doer (m/f/d) who understands code and cloud equally, enjoys working on the product, and brings simple, impactful solutions to life with us.
From the very beginning, you will be part of Product Discovery: We discuss customer and user problems together in the product development team and develop technical solutions that are pragmatic and maintainable – entirely according to the motto: Simple and stable is better than highly complex.
Your Tasks
Full-Stack Development: Conception, implementation, and continuous development of modern front-ends and back-ends based on TypeScript and Node.js.
Participation in Product Discovery: Together with the team, you will analyze new product requirements, contribute technical feasibility, and help to identify the real benefits for customers and end-users.
Modern Toolbox: You will use modern tools and AI assistants (e.g., in the IDE) centrally and proactively to accelerate processes – but always maintain full control, understanding, and a critical view of code quality and architecture.
Transparent Team Exchange: You will openly share your knowledge within the team, document comprehensibly, and ensure that no knowledge silos are created.
What you bring
Technical Foundation & Education: Successfully completed degree (e.g., Computer Science, Software Development, or comparable) as well as solid practical and coding experience in the TypeScript and Node.js ecosystem (Full-Stack).
Enthusiasm for AI: High openness to the use of AI tools – both as daily support in the IDE and as a future-proof component of our product features.
Pragmatism & Keep-It-Simple Mentality: You look for the simplest, most stable solution to a problem, rather than unnecessarily bloating systems.
Product Orientation: You are interested in the why behind a feature and want to see the real added value your code provides.
Initiative & Desire for Change: You independently identify areas for optimization, are eager to take action, and want to continuously streamline our system landscape.
Collaborative Team Spirit: Open communication at eye level, enjoyment of joint sparring, and a reflective, constructive approach to feedback.
Infrastructure Understanding (Nice-to-have): Basic knowledge of cloud environments (AWS) and an interest in simplifying systems and efficiently setting up container solutions are a plus, but not a must-have.
What We Offer
Part-time with Hybrid Option: Flexible working hours with the possibility of home office. Regular presence on-site in Cologne is important to us for joint product feature workshops, sprint planning, and personal exchange within the team.
Mobility: Subsidized Deutschlandticket.
Future Provision: Subsidized company pension plan (bAV).
Monthly Extra: €50 in benefits monthly on your personal prepaid debit card.
Work Environment & Culture: Bright office in Cologne with ergonomic workstations and modern equipment for flexible working.
Start Date: The position is to be filled from December 2026 / January 2027.
How We Connect
We do not require classic cover letters. Send us your CV and your answers to the points below via email to ----- (attn. Marco Damm):
Code Insight: A link to one of your repositories, PRs, or code snippets that you are proud of – plus 1-2 sentences about why you chose that solution.
Framework Conditions: How many hours/week are you aiming for and what are your salary expectations?
Practical Thinking: Which TypeScript/Node.js tool currently makes your daily work easiest and why?
Please use the following subject line: Application FST261014 – [Your First Name].
We look forward to getting to know you!
