Front Suspension Engineer
Job description
What does it do?
It is in charge of redesigning the front suspension of the vehicle, changing the current system (which uses a transverse spring) for a more efficient one with coil springs (like those in many traditional cars). This affects how the vehicle handles, its comfort, and its durability.
Main responsibilities:
Design options for the new front suspension, making sure it is strong, lightweight, and easy to maintain.
Check that the design doesn’t negatively affect space for other components (like the engine, steering, or brakes).
Compare options: use existing parts, modify them, or create something new?
Document how the change affects vehicle height, driving comfort, and ease of repair.
Key deliverables:
3D designs (using CATIA or NX).
Reports explaining the pros and cons of each option.
Risk lists (e.g., "If we use this design, there could be problems with X").
