At The Better Cat, we are revolutionizing the pet food market. 🐾 We are a VC-backed startup (with FoodLabs as an investor, among others) that has grown into one of the largest cat food companies in Germany within a few years and won the Fressnapf Innovation Award in 2024. We are working for the largest and fastest-growing segment in the pet food market: cats.

This is not a classic assistant role. You will work directly with our co-founder Rachit and take on real responsibility for a six-figure marketing budget per month from day one. We are looking for someone who has experience with growth and now wants to move from executing to deciding. Whoever does this role well will learn more about building and scaling a company in 12 months than they would elsewhere in five years.

Responsibilities

Together with Rachit, you will manage a significant portion of our six-figure monthly budget across all growth channels and make the decisions that truly drive our growth.

• Performance Marketing & Budget Ownership: You will own channels such as Meta Ads, our Creator & Influencer Programs, and Retention/Email (Klaviyo). You will decide weekly where budget is scaled and where it is cut – data-driven, not gut feeling.
• Creative Strategy: You will develop the angles, hooks, and formats with our community and our creators that acquire new customers – from idea to live test. Our community advantage is real; you will turn it into growth.
• Data & Attribution: You will work daily with GA4, Shopify, and our attribution setup (Klar). You know what a channel truly delivers – measured by CAC, contribution margin, and payback, not by vanity metrics.
• Automation & Processes: We rely heavily on AI and automation to scale efficiently. You will have free rein to make our growth processes faster and sharper – and thus contribute directly to growth.
• Retention & Unit Economics: Our model is retention-first. You will think in cohorts and lifetime value, not just in the first order – and thus own an outcome that directly impacts our P&L.
• Strategic Projects with the Founding Team: From assortment expansions to pricing to investor topics – you will work on the questions that decide the next year of growth.

Qualifications

• Experience: 1–2 years in Growth, Performance Marketing, or E-commerce – start-up/scale-up, growth team, or performance agency.
• Budget Ownership: You have already managed a budget independently and owned at least one channel end-to-end.
• Data-Driven: You are confident reading CAC, ROAS, contribution margin, and cohorts – and derive decisions from them. You are proficient in Excel.
• Tool Stack: Meta Ads, GA4, Shopify, Klaviyo, and an attribution tool; AI and automation are a strong plus.
• Entrepreneur at Heart: You want ownership, speed, and visible impact – not prestige or process.
• Bias for Action: You take things from 0 to 1 and prefer to go live today rather than perfect next week.
• You communicate excellently – in German as well as in English.
