Founders Associate (m/f/d) - International Expansion

Responsibilities

What you do

PALU is established in Germany and Austria, now we are preparing for the next big growth step: a new market. As Founders Associate, you will take over the project that decides how we approach it. You will build the supply chain for the new market and check if our business plan for expansion works out.

You will work directly with the founder, get a clear goal, and determine the path to it yourself. In the end, there will be a solid answer on which we can base an investment decision.

What this means in concrete terms:

• Build Supply Chain: You will find and qualify international manufacturers, freight forwarders, and fulfillment partners and negotiate with them.

• Know Every Cost Item: You will build a landed cost model including production, freight, duties, warehousing, last mile, and returns. After that, you will know what a bed truly costs us in the target market.

• Validate Business Plan: You will reconcile assumptions with real offers, calculate scenarios, and clearly state where the plan holds up and where it doesn't.

• Identify Risks Early: Product safety, certifications, customs duties. You will clarify what we need to know before it gets expensive.

• Prepare for Investors: You will create models, spreadsheets, and slides that we will use to represent the expansion to investors.

This is not an internship where you fill research folders. You are responsible for the outcome.

Qualifications

What you bring

→ A lot of drive and proof of exceptional performance, whether professional, athletic, academic, or otherwise

→ Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable field

→ You can use Excel or Sheets: You build models that others trust

→ Slides that get straight to the point, and structured thinking

→ You prefer to pick up the phone rather than write ten emails, even with suppliers in different time zones

→ AI Fluency: You use Claude, ChatGPT, and similar tools to be twice as fast

→ Fluent German and English

→ Experience in consulting, VC, or startups is a plus
