Forward Deployed Engineer | Finance

You ensure that AI does not remain a financial pilot, but helps in real work.

A smart AI demo is impressive. But technology only becomes valuable when analysts and employees use it every day. Especially in finance, where reliability, auditability, and regulation are never secondary.

As a Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you are involved from the very first conversation. You will turn "we want to do something with AI" into a testable use case within weeks, or you will honestly say that it is not possible (yet). Then you will design and build the solution and bring it live in cycles of days. And then you make yourself redundant.

What will you do?

You bridge the gap between business and technology: you sit at the table with the client, design the solution, and often implement it yourself.

• Sharpening use cases: together with business development, you conduct discovery conversations, test use cases against real data and systems, and build a proof-of-value in days.

• Designing and executing: you design the agentic architecture, choose the pattern that fits each situation, and bring the solution into production in short cycles, together with our AI Engineers.

• Handover and measurement: the client can run the solution themselves, and after go-live, you measure if it is actually being used. That is your benchmark.

• Making us smarter: you make what you learn reusable for the next client, and you help new FDEs get started.
  
  

Approximately 10% of your time goes to pre-sales and 90% to delivery; business development is the commercial owner.

From KYC to complex financial processes

You know the reality behind KYC/AML, customer onboarding, complaint and claims handling, financial reporting, risk, and compliance. Think of:

• KYC files that agents prepare with traceable sources, so analysts can make informed decisions faster.

• Documents and signals that come together for a complaints or claims team.

• Reports that are currently manual work, automated within the frameworks of DORA and the EU AI Act.

What do you bring?

• Demonstrable experience in finance: you know the processes, data, systems, and risks from the inside out.

• You have designed, put into production, and maintained AI solutions with LLMs and agents, including evals, guardrails, monitoring, and security.

• Strong in Python and SQL, and hands-on with at least one cloud (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and a data platform like Databricks, Snowflake, or Fabric.

• You work daily with coding agents and critically assess what they produce.

• Experience in a client-facing role, such as consulting, pre-sales, solutions engineering, or your own startup.

• You speak and write fluent Dutch and English.

Bonus points: experience with DORA, model risk management, or audit trails, and with classic ML such as fraud and risk models.

What this is NOT

• Not individual secondment. You work on projects on behalf of adesso, with a team behind you.

• Not a PoC graveyard. We build to be used.

• Not slides without code. Your advice comes with a working version.

• Not an agent because it's possible. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best, and you say that.

The team

You will be part of our AI Engineering team: AI engineering consultants in two roles. The Forward Deployed AI Engineer (FDE) owns the client problem and designs the solution, including the agentic architecture. The AI Engineer dives deep into development, data, MLOps, and scaling, and contributes to the right approach from the client's request.

You will have the space to shape your own work, but you are never solely responsible for all specialisms.

• €5,850–€7,150 gross per month based on 40 hours;
