Forward Deployed AI Engineer (m/f/d)

You bring Agentic AI to where companies work: into their systems, processes, and teams. WE BUILD AI has been around since February 2025. We are about ten people in a loft office in Cologne-Ehrenfeld and build AI solutions for the upper mid-market.

You work where AI needs to arrive in everyday life

Forward Deployed with us means: You are close to our clients. You find out with the business departments where agents and workflows can take over work, and integrate them into existing systems. You always work in a project team with our AI Engineers and Consultants.

Your tasks

• You build agents and workflows that integrate into existing systems, such as ERP, CRM, Microsoft 365, or time tracking.

• You develop interfaces to these systems in Python, mostly with FastAPI.

• You clarify access, permissions, and authorizations with the IT, Security, and Data Protection departments of our clients.

• During the pilot phase, you check with the business departments whether the solution is effective, and then roll it out broadly.

• From each project, you create components that you make reusable for the next one.

• Together with AI Engineers and Consultants, you plan how a solution will run permanently for clients.

Your profile

• You have integrated software into existing corporate landscapes, for example via REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, or ERP interfaces.

• You have already built applications that run in production using LLM APIs, tool use, and agent frameworks.

• You are proficient in Python; experience with Azure and Microsoft 365 is a plus.

• Permissions, identity, and data protection are part of your solutions.

• You can explain technology understandably to business departments and IT management and advocate for your recommendations.

• Assignments with clients throughout Germany fit into your daily routine.

• A completed degree or vocational training in computer science, business informatics, or a related field, or alternatively comparable practical experience.

• Very good German language skills, as customer contact is in German.

Honestly in advance

We are a small team without our own platform team, and you will make many technical decisions yourself. If you prefer to work in a large team on your own product, you will likely be happier elsewhere.

This is the process of our application procedure:

1. Joint Call, approximately 30 minutes. We talk about you and about us.

2. Trial Task with about 2 hours of effort. Afterwards, you will present your solution in 45 to 60 minutes.

3. Meeting in Cologne with a shared meal, insight into ongoing projects, and technical sparring within the team.

After each step, you will hear from us within one business day. We plan for three weeks from application to offer.
