Job Description
The opportunity
We’re looking for a Fleet Manager who can combine big picture thinking with hands-on leadership. In this role, you’ll shape the strategic direction of our fleet, ensuring it aligns with sustainability and emission reduction goals. From procurement and renewal programs to compliance and safety standards, you’ll be at the heart of keeping our operations moving smoothly.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership, providing accurate data and performance insights, while building strong relationships with vendors and stakeholders. Your ability to balance strategy with day-to-day operational requirements will make a real impact across the organisation.
Leading by example, you’ll create a culture of service and excellence. If you’re passionate about sustainability, thrive on collaboration, and want to make a difference, this is your chance to steer our fleet into the future.
Some key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Manage the implementation of the fleet long term strategy aligned with Council’s Climate Action Plan, achieving emission reduction targets and supporting long-term sustainability goals.
- Manage the long-term plan process on behalf of the fleet activity, ensuring that the current and future needs of fleet assets across the organisation are planned and budgeted for.
- Lead all procurement and disposal activity to deliver the annual fleet procurement and renewal programme, ensuring vehicles and equipment are fit-for-purpose, safe, cost-effective, and compliant with specifications.
- Manage vendor relationships and effectively negotiate contracts to ensure performance standards are met and agreements deliver value for money.
- Monitor and report regularly on key fleet KPIs including utilisation, uptime, performance, emission progress and asset values.
- Lead and support the fleet team, including the Fleet Controller, to deliver efficient day-to-day operations and exceptional service to the organisation.
