What it's about

• The position can be filled full-time and part-time (from 25 hours/week).

• You bring order to Thorit's accounting – and build the structures that allow it to grow.

• We have grown significantly in recent years, and the financial processes have not kept pace. There is no documented monthly closing, open items are not consistently maintained, and much depends on individual people. This is exactly your task: not to manage an existing system, but to build one.

• You won't be working alone. Ongoing accounting is handled by our tax firm, and you will be supported internally by the assistant for preparatory accounting. You are the person who manages the whole process, ensures quality, and brings it into order.

Your tasks

• You are responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounting, including bank reconciliation – in coordination with our firm and internal preparatory accounting.

• You will build a documented, repeatable monthly closing process that doesn't exist today.

• You will clear up old outstanding items in accounts receivable and payable and keep the open item lists (OPOS) up-to-date.

• You will ensure that VAT advance returns are submitted correctly and on time.

• You will support the annual closing process in direct collaboration with our tax advisor.

• You will ensure that travel expenses are settled correctly.

• You will document the finance processes in Confluence so that they don't depend on individual individuals.

What you bring

Necessary

• Several years of practical experience in German financial accounting.

• Proficient in DATEV.

• Sound fundamental knowledge of German commercial and tax law as it relates to accounting.

• Eagerness to work independently and build structure without close supervision in day-to-day operations.

• Fluent German (C1/C2) and solid business English.

Nice to have

• Experience in payroll accounting as well as with DEÜV/ELStAM/DATEV Lohn + Gehalt – payroll is currently outsourced but would be a future topic.

• Experience in supporting annual financial statements with an external firm.

• Experience in a growing company or a consultancy.

Framework Conditions

• Location: Böblingen, hybrid – 2-3 days per week in the office.

Thorit is the AI and CRM consultancy for the agentic company.
