The Company

Our client is a well-established investment-focused organisation with operations across New Zealand and Australia. They manage a diverse portfolio of assets and operate in a complex, commercially focused environment where finance plays a key role in supporting investment and business decisions.

This is an 18-month parental leave contract within an experienced finance team, offering exposure to senior stakeholders, commercial activity and a broad range of finance responsibilities.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll take ownership of financial management and reporting across a portfolio of investments.

This is a varied role combining financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, commercial analysis and business partnering. You'll work closely with teams across the organisation and contribute to key business activity including investment opportunities, transactions and ongoing portfolio management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing monthly management accounts, variance analysis and forecasts
  • Managing annual financial statements and external audit
  • Supporting budgets and reforecasts
  • Providing financial analysis for commercial and investment decisions
  • Overseeing relevant tax and treasury requirements
  • Supporting cash flow, distributions and financial compliance
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders across the business
  • Leading and developing a small finance team
  • Contributing to finance systems, process and continuous improvement initiatives

Your Profile

You'll be a commercially minded, technically strong accountant who is confident working independently and partnering with senior stakeholders.

  • 7+ years' accounting/finance experience
  • CA/CPA or equivalent qualification
  • Strong financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Excellent Excel and analytical skills
  • Experience leading or mentoring others
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and genuine interest in improving processes
  • Property, investment or funds experience would be advantageous, but strong corporate finance experience in a complex environment will also be considered.
