Finance Assistant, Freelance, up to 15 hours per week

About the Role

We, at the Brand Champions, are seeking a Finance Assistant to play a key role in keeping our finance and operations running smoothly. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring timely transaction processing, and supporting day-to-day financial activities that keep the organisation on track.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are an experienced candidate who values flexibility and want to make a meaningful impact in a fast-growing business, while working on a part-time consultant basis.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• Process supplier invoices accurately, in a timely manner, based on agreed terms.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices, ensuring accuracy of billing information.
• Monitor, chase, and manage outstanding payments, maintaining effective credit control.
• Reconcile supplier statements and proactively resolve any queries or discrepancies.

General Support

• Respond promptly to internal and external finance queries, professionally and efficiently.
• Assist with preparing financial reports and management information as required.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with GDPR and financial regulations.

Essential Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a finance, bookkeeping, or accounting role, ideally within an SME or consultancy environment.
• AAT Level 3/4 or equivalent finance/accountancy qualification desirable; ACA/ACCA/CIMA part-qualified is an advantage.
• Strong numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in cloud-based accounting platforms, particularly Xero, with working knowledge of Excel and integrated finance tools (e.g., Dext)
• Knowledge of Monday.com useful but not required

Working Arrangements

• Hours: 10–15 hours per week, with flexibility to suit your schedule, ideally spread across the working week to ensure continuity.
• Location: Primarily remote, with regular in‑person meetings in Bournemouth for better collaboration.
• Fee: £20–£25 per hour (based on skills and experience)
• Contract: Initial trial 3 months, then rolling 6 month
