Finance and Risk Manager – Montague Garden Position summary Industry: Wholesale & Retail Trade Location: Cape Town Contract: Permanent EE position: Yes About our company Clicks Group Introduction We are seeking to appoint a Finance and Risk Manager to support our Distribution Centre within Clicks Retailers. This role will be based at our Distribution Centre in Montague Garden , Cape Town reporting to the Retail Finance Manager II. Purpose To improve the profitability of the distribution centre and to ensure compliance with all relevant financial and risk management standards and regulations. Responsibilities Financial Management: * Prepare and manage the annual budget for the distribution centre, including forecasting and variance analysis. * Monitor and control expenditure, ensuring adherence to budget and identifying cost-saving opportunities. * Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights and recommendations to management. * Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes. * Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts. * Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. * Manage the distribution centre's cash flow, including forecasting and monitoring. * Manage and reconcile inventory, ensuring accuracy and minimizing losses. * Collaborate with other departments to improve financial performance. Risk Management: * Identify and assess financial and operational risks. * Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. * Monitor and report on risk exposures. * Ensure compliance with all relevant risk management policies and procedures. * Liaise with internal and external auditors. * Oversee the implementation and maintenance of internal controls. * Manage and report on insurance policies. * Ensure business continuity planning is in place. * Conduct regular risk assessments. People Management: * Lead, manage, and develop the finance and risk team. * Set performance objectives and conduct performance reviews. * Provide coaching and mentoring to team members. * Foster a positive and collaborative team environment. Qualifications & Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. * Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA) is advantageous. * Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management and risk management. * Experience in the retail or distribution industry is preferred. * Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices. * Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. * Experience with risk assessment and mitigation. * Experience with internal controls and compliance. * Experience with people management. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
