Field Guide

Job Summary The Field Guide is responsible for delivering exceptional guided safari experiences to guests through informative, safe, and engaging game drives, bush walks, and wildlife activities. This role involves interpreting the natural environment, ensuring guest safety, enhancing conservation awareness, and representing the lodge or reserve with professionalism. The Field Guide also assists with reserve duties, conservation support, and guest interaction while promoting ethical wildlife practices and contributing to the overall success of the lodge or reserve. Key responsibilities include: • Conducting guided game drives and bush walks in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring guests are informed about the natural environment and wildlife. • Providing exceptional customer service by being attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. • Ensuring guest safety at all times during activities and providing emergency assistance when necessary. • Participating in conservation efforts and supporting reserve duties as required. • Developing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the lodge or reserve's flora, fauna, and ecosystems. • Collaborating with other team members to achieve common goals and objectives. • Maintaining accurate records and reports of activities, observations, and guest interactions. • Promoting ethical wildlife practices and contributing to the overall success of the lodge or reserve. Job Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a relevant field (e.g., biology, ecology, environmental science) preferred. • 2+ years of experience as a Field Guide or similar role in the tourism industry. • Strong knowledge of wildlife, conservation, and natural history. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Physical stamina to withstand outdoor activities in varying weather conditions. • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
