Field Access Officer “Land Access & Permitting”

SGE prepares an ambitious 3D seismic acquisition campaign in the Broye region (cantons of Vaud and Fribourg), a key step in the development of future geothermal resources. The project launch is scheduled for T4 2026.

In this context, SGE actively seeks several Field Access Officers to accompany the preparation and realization of this large-scale project.

The study will cover approximately 500 km² in various and complex environments, including urban and industrial areas, agricultural lands, forests, rivers, and two lakes. This project aims to optimize the future implantation of geothermal wells and actively contribute to the energy transition.

Context and challenges

To ensure the smooth running of seismic operations, a rigorous coordination of permits and access to land is essential. It allows obtaining the required permits, establishing a trusting relationship with local stakeholders, and coordinating effective exchanges with property owners and local authorities.

Prior to these challenges, SGE strengthens its terrain teams and opens several Field Access Officer positions.

Project organization

The work is structured into three phases:

• Phase 1: Preparation and obtaining permits before seismic operations (6 months)
• Phase 2: Support on the ground during seismic acquisition (5 months)
• Phase 3: Post-operations follow-up and compensation management (1 month)

Roles

Field Access Officers act on behalf of SGE and work under the supervision of the seismic contractor, who coordinates, follows up, and manages daily activities related to permits, in close and continuous collaboration with SGE.

Main responsibilities

• Be a key point of contact for informing and exchanging with property owners, farmers, fishermen, and local authorities about the seismic project
• Obtain the necessary access rights and permits to access sites and install equipment
• Provide operational support to terrain teams (vibroseis trucks, sensor deployment) and resolve access issues as needed
• Accompany seismic operations on the ground, including nighttime operations during Phase 2 (approximately October to March)
• Maintain constructive relationships with local residents and respond clearly and professionally to questions
• Remain calm and professional in case of disagreement or opposition, and actively contribute to de-escalating tensions on the ground
• Identify, document, and ensure follow-up on potential damages, including compensation management

Duration & availability

• Fixed-term contract (multiple positions available – beginner level)

First wave:

• 10 Permitting Officers starting from April 1, 2026
• Duration: 6 months (Phase 1) or 12 months (Phases 1 to 3)

Second wave:

• 10 additional Permitting Officers starting from October 2026
• Duration: 6 months (Phases 2 and 3)
• Workload: 80-100%

Working hours: flexible, including occasional extended hours as well as daytime and nighttime operations during seismic acquisition.

Profile sought

• Pertinent education or professional experience in terrain operations, land access, permits, infrastructure, environmental projects, or public relations
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience appreciated but not required
• French as a native language or excellent written and oral proficiency (essential)
• German and English are assets
• A valid driving license (frequent travel on the terrain) is an advantage
• A strong interest in renewable energies and sustainable projects
• Candidates with a strong local anchor, good knowledge of the region, and local actors will be particularly considered
