Role Description… The Decision Scientist will work within the Pricing & Underwriting (P&U) department of the organization. The P&U department is responsible for ensuring the company maintains a competitive, profitable, and compliant insurance portfolio. The team utilizes data analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, and business intelligence to drive business decisions. The Decision Scientist will leverage advanced analytical and technical skills to extract, analyze, and interpret complex data sets. They will develop, validate, and implement predictive models and other advanced analytical solutions to improve business outcomes. What you will do: * Design, develop, and implement predictive models and other advanced analytical solutions to support pricing, underwriting, and risk management initiatives. * Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand business challenges and identify opportunities to leverage data and analytics to drive business outcomes. * Extract, clean, and transform large and complex datasets from various sources. * Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical modeling to identify trends, patterns, and insights. * Develop and validate predictive models using machine learning techniques. * Implement models and analytical solutions into production systems. * Monitor model performance and provide recommendations for model improvements. * Communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences. * Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in data science and analytics. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or economics. * 5+ years of experience in data science or a related field. * Strong understanding of statistical modeling and machine learning techniques. * Experience with programming languages such as Python or R. * Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools such as SQL. * Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. * Excellent communication and presentation skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in the insurance industry. * Experience with pricing and underwriting. * Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI. * Experience with big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.
