Job description
When a child becomes incurably ill, a journey begins for an entire family that often lasts for years – with good and bad days, crises, and hope. SAPV-KJ does not prolong life at all costs – it gives quality of life, where children and families are at home. With PalliVIVO Junior, we are building a new SAPV-KJ team for Lower, Middle, and Upper Franconia starting January 2027 – professionally sound, humanly close, with real passion. We are looking for you as a key medical person for this establishment.
Responsibilities
- Outpatient palliative medical care for severely ill children, adolescents, and young adults in their home environment – symptom control, pain therapy, crisis intervention.
- Support for the entire family: parents, siblings, and close relatives – empathetic, clear, on an equal footing.
- Building a referral and cooperation network with pediatricians, children's hospitals (including University Hospitals Würzburg and Erlangen, Sozialstiftung Bamberg, Leopoldina Schweinfurt), independent practitioners, nursing services, as well as hospice and bereavement services in the region.
- Multidisciplinary case management and close coordination with the nursing and psychosocial team.
- Participation in the on-call duty within the SAPV-KJ team (24/7 care).
Profile
- Specialist recognition (prerequisite) with a subspecialty in palliative medicine (desirable).
- Specialist in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine preferred; other specializations (e.g., General Medicine, Anesthesiology, or Pediatric Surgery) with sound experience in the care of children and adolescents are also welcome.
- SAPV-KJ, pediatric palliative care, pediatric oncology, pediatric neurology, or hospice experience desirable.
- Empathy, strong communication skills, and enjoyment of shaping things in a young team; driver's license class B
We Offer
- Help shape a new SAPV-KJ team from the ground up – your mark will be visible
- Medicine with time: room for careful decisions, long conversations, and support throughout the entire course of illness
- Strong multidisciplinary team with pediatric-qualified nursing specialists, psychosocial specialists, coordination, and pastoral care – you are on-site, but never alone
- Fair, performance-related remuneration with transparent allowances for on-call duties – plus company pension scheme, supplementary health insurance, company car/JobRad, further training and development, and supervision
