Job Description Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity We are seeking an Eye Tissue Retrieval Specialist & Donor Coordinator (internally known as Eye Bank Coordinator) to be based in Grafton, Auckland. This is a multifaceted and essential role within the New Zealand National Eye Bank, a non-profit organisation based within the University of Auckland and partially funded by the Ministry of Health. You will join a small, five-person team running a vital donation programme that provides over 300 corneal transplants annually to patients with vision loss or blindness across New Zealand. The role is responsible for coordinating the retrieval of eye tissue from donors, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate records. Key responsibilities include: • Coordinating the logistics of eye tissue retrievals, including scheduling, transportation, and storage • Maintaining accurate records of donor information, eye tissue retrieval, and processing • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines • Providing excellent customer service to donors, families, and healthcare professionals • Collaborating with the Eye Bank team to develop and implement processes for efficient and effective donation programme management.
