Job description
Role Overview: Creating solutions for everything from dining and nutrition to facilities maintenance and rehabilitative services, Sodexo partners with government agencies and military organizations to improve people's quality of life and make a positive impact. Sodexo is seeking a strong Executive Chef for the United States Coast Guard in New London Connecticut. The Executive Chef will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day oversight of food service operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision. This role requires a high level of culinary expertise, leadership skills, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and implementing menus that meet the dietary needs of our customers, including those with special dietary requirements. • Managing food service operations, including inventory management, ordering, and receiving supplies. • Supervising and training kitchen staff, including cooks, dishwashers, and other support personnel. • Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and safety. • Collaborating with the General Manager to develop and implement strategies for improving customer satisfaction and increasing revenue. • Participating in budgeting and financial planning processes to ensure effective management of resources. • Building strong relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders to drive business results. • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements to continuously improve operations and performance. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or related field. • 5+ years of experience as an Executive Chef or similar role. • Proven track record of success in managing food service operations, including menu planning, inventory management, and staff supervision. • Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to motivate and inspire team members. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with strong organizational and time management skills. • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. • Certification as an Executive Chef (CEC) or similar culinary certification preferred.
