Job description

Your Role

Medium-sized entrepreneurs usually experience consulting in an interchangeable event language: conference hotel, standard catering, a program that looks the same in every room. This is precisely where the leverage for a different model lies, across all event sizes from webinars to in-house conferences.

Vogel advises several thousand medium-sized companies on tax, commercial, and strategic issues. We are building the event infrastructure for this network: roundtables, retreats, salon formats, individual client dinners, an ongoing webinar series, selected trade fair appearances, and prospectively our own SME conference. Our internal events such as town halls, summer parties, and off-sites should also feel like Vogel and not like a standard company party.

You come from premium hospitality, a high-end restaurant, or an event brand with high standards and want to design formats yourself instead of implementing ready-made concepts. You will be responsible for Vogel's event and brand experience, work in the growth team, and closely with management on selected formats. After 24 to 36 months, the natural career path leads to a lead role for Event and Brand Experience.

Your Responsibility

Flagship Events and Individual Formats

  • You will design Vogel's format library, from salons to curated dinners to retreats, and manage every event from concept to the last detail.

  • You will help build the in-house SME conference: stage, program, catering, entrance experience.

  • You will be responsible for small-scale formats: client dinners by industry, personal appointments with multipliers, salons with a few guests.

Ongoing Operations: Webinars, Internal Events, Trade Fairs

  • You will coordinate the webinar series with two to three sessions per week: technology, schedule, follow-up, and CRM tracking. The consultants provide the content, you maintain the standard.

  • You will be responsible for the framework of our internal events to the same detail standard as for external events.

  • You will manage our presence at selected trade fairs, from stand concept to on-site execution.

Brand Standards and Processes

  • You will ensure every event aligns with our style guide: warm table culture, minimalist design, genuine materials.

  • You will manage guest lists with management and business development: curated, not mass mailing.

  • You will document reusable standards, from the entry ritual to the webinar flow, so they can be replicated without you.

Your Prospects

What you will have delivered after 6 months:

  • You will have independently managed the first roundtables and retreats and concurrently taken over the webinar series.

  • You will have built your own format library: flagship formats, webinar flow, playbook for internal events.

What you will have delivered after 12 months:

  • You will independently manage fifteen to twenty flagship events per year and the ongoing webinar series.

  • Internal events will run to the same standard as client formats.

What you will have delivered after 24 months:

  • The in-house SME conference will have taken place and gained a reputation beyond our clients.

  • You will be a candidate for the lead role in Event and Brand Experience.

Where the position is heading:

The next step is the lead role for Event and Brand Experience. This requires an independently managed event architecture and visible format reputation, not additional years of experience.

What You Bring

Experience & Track Record

  • Verifiable experience in premium hospitality: in a hotel brand with high service standards, a high-end restaurant, or with an event brand for discerning guests.

  • In addition to flagship events, you will have managed ongoing operations at high frequency, with the same attention to detail.

  • Candidates who do not fit this profile but possess a sense for formats and details are expressly encouraged to apply. Specifically: interior designers with event construction experience, producers from magazines with live formats, career changers from theater or opera. We evaluate based on contribution, not on labels. The indicated range is not for negotiation, but a profile scale: the lower end represents verifiable experience in premium hospitality, the upper end represents own format architecture and a recognizable methodological contribution. Those with a different background will start at a different market price and converge to the role's level after twelve months of proven performance.

Skills & Work Style

  • You have a feel for details: In catering briefings, lighting concepts, or seating arrangements, you can recognize what works and what doesn't.

  • You master webinar tools and scheduling and resolve operational bottlenecks yourself instead of escalating them.

  • You use AI as a natural tool for research, invitation texts, and schedules.

Mindset & Personality

  • You aim to set the highest standard in everything you deliver, not because someone is checking, but because mediocrity personally bothers you.

  • You have the humility to learn from practitioners. Clients and consultants know things about the SME sector that are not found in any hospitality handbook.

  • You are comfortable in a culture that is hierarchical in decision-making, flat in communication, and autonomous in execution.

What you won't find with us

  • No event job with outsourced logistics. You handle both concept and execution.

  • No pure webinar marketing. You are responsible for the entire experience across all event sizes.

  • No agency gloss. We work in short cycles, in small teams, and refine details ourselves.

  • No promotion based on staff numbers. You grow through technical depth.

FAQ

1. What is Vogel – and where do you work?

Vogel is one of Germany's leading SME consultancies – since 1959, owner-managed in the second generation, with its own capital – and is building the leading consulting platform for SMEs from this foundation. We work at three locations: Aalen as the established headquarters, Bopfingen in the core business, and Munich as a new hub. At all three locations, we are hiring across functions – from tax consulting to advisory to the teams that build the foundation underneath.

2. How are the salary bands to be understood?

Intentionally broad – and indicated at each point before you apply. We differentiate based on track record and market value, not on degrees: scarce, highly sought-after profiles at the upper end, less scarce ones at the lower end. The indicated range is not for negotiation, but a profile scale – two people with similar experience can earn differently with us. What determines the upper end is maturity, not the number of years of experience, and not negotiation skills.

3. How much – and how – do you work at Vogel?

We measure by what you achieve, not by hours. However, it's also true: if you're looking for 9-to-5, you're not our first choice. We are looking for people who work intensively out of their own drive because the tasks are worthwhile. How you distribute your time is largely up to you. What we share: we work together in person and typically see each other in the office daily – culture, sparring, and the best ideas emerge from daily proximity. We are not a remote company and do not have extensive home office policies; occasional remote days are not a problem.

4. What is the application process like?

Lean, fast, transparent – and tiered by profile. Typically, there are four steps: a written assignment where you take a position on eight questions – AI is explicitly allowed, we only ask for a brief self-disclosure on it; a half-hour conversation; a joint work session on a real problem from our daily work; and an on-site meeting with the team and a shared meal. How many steps there are in total depends on the role: for internships and working student positions, the on-site meeting is omitted; for student jobs, a conversation is sufficient; for senior roles, a joint work afternoon is added. In advance, you can book a ten-minute call where you only ask questions. Typically, you will hear from us within 48 hours after each step.

5. How does variable compensation work?

Tied to performance quarterly, assessed qualitatively. The scale increases with the level: up to 20% Associate, 27.5% Manager, 35% Senior Manager, 42.5% Director, 50% VP. The expected value for good performance – you meet the requirements, set your own priorities, pass the keeper test – is around 50% of the maximum; the maximum bonus is not the norm. The focus is on a holistic assessment by your manager based on six criteria: Impact, Judgement, Communication, Execution, Growth, and Values.

6. How do I develop – what are the career paths?

Two active paths: the IC career (technical depth, expert path) through the levels Expert, Senior, Lead, and Principal – and the Management career (leadership, personnel responsibility) through Manager, Senior Manager, Director, and VP. Both are compensated equally, and both do not necessarily lead upwards: staying at one level and deepening expertise there is just as valid with us. You choose your direction after onboarding, usually in years 1-3. Starting your career is not a special path, but the early part of the same journey – from working student or intern to Associate, for the best without a new application process.

7. Team, Culture, Vacation?

The joint lunch is the daily anchor point – those who are in the office eat together; it's an expectation, not a control. Dinner is the same offering without any expectation. Both are without personal contribution. In addition, social events and off-sites at regular intervals – not as mandatory programs, but because a good team also shares time outside of work.

Benefits with us are not the icing on the cake, but what makes intensity sustainable over years: exam support with a €25,000 qualification budget and three months of leave, 100% coverage of childcare costs, EGYM Wellpass, company pension plan, job ticket with 90% subsidy, home office equipment and a device of your choice from our catalog, one book per month from the Vogel canon – and AI tools without token limits and without budget caps. Vacation: 28 days.

  • Fixed • €66,000 – €84,000 • €18,150 – €23,100 Bonus
