Job description
Your Role
Clients in the medium-sized business sector often perceive consulting firms as offering a nearly interchangeable event experience – uninspiring conference hotels, standard catering, program logic that looks the same in every room. Encounters with consulting firms are rarely an experience. This is precisely where the leverage lies for a different model – across all event sizes, from webinars to mid-sized business conferences.
Vogel is one of Germany's most successful mid-sized consulting firms. Several thousand medium-sized companies entrust us with their tax, financial, and strategic matters. We are currently building the event infrastructure for this network of relationships: roundtables, wine and ski retreats, salon formats, personalized client dinners, and, in the future, our own mid-sized business conference in Aalen with several hundred participants, plus an ongoing webinar cadence and carefully curated trade fair appearances. Our internal employee events – town halls, summer parties, Christmas parties, off-sites – should also be Vogel experiences, not standard corporate festivities. Every occasion, whether external or internal, is characterized by warm table culture, curated guest density, material detail, and a sense of place that is rare in the consulting landscape.
You are a hospitality professional with true premium DNA – three to five years in a premium hotel brand like Aman, Rosewood, or Soho House, in a high-end restaurant, or with a premium event brand with a family office or premium conference focus. In addition to flagship events, you have also learned operational cadence – high-frequency events with the same level of detail. You are transitioning from the pure operations mode of a top hotel to a role where you become a co-architect of the format, not just an execution vehicle. At Vogel, you will find structures that support you – established clients, long experience, a strong growth base – plus a hospitality architecture under construction that you will help build from the ground up.
You will be responsible for the entire event-driven hospitality and brand experience of the Vogel brand – flagship events for clients; the ongoing webinar cadence; internal employee events; as well as selected trade fair appearances. You will work in Munich as part of the Brand & Content Team, reporting to the Brand & Content Lead, and in the developmental nature of this initial role, you will work closely with Moritz Vogel on selected events and formats. The natural progression over 24 to 36 months leads to a senior role such as Lead Event & Brand Experience with your own hospitality architecture across multiple locations.
Your Responsibility
Flagship Events and Personalized Formats
Design and own the Vogel flagship format library – salon, curated dinners, roundtable, wine and ski retreat, standardization of client dinners – from concept to the last detail. Fifteen to twenty flagship events per year in Munich, Aalen, and other locations.
Architect the Aalen mid-sized business conference – stage, program, catering, entrance experience, brand DNA consistency. Lead time starting Q4 2026, first edition 2027.
Own personalized one-to-one and small group formats – premium client dinners with industry focus, personal multiplier appointments, curated small-group salons. Mass-customized rather than scaled.
Operational Cadence – Webinars, Employee Events, Trade Fairs
Own the continuous webinar cadence of two to three events per week. The consultants provide the content; you coordinate the entire process and ensure that every webinar meets our aesthetic standards – application in coordination with the Editorial & Community Associate, tech setup, run-of-show, follow-up (recording editing, follow-up emails, social snippets, lead tracking in Attio).
Be responsible for the framework of our internal employee events – town halls, summer parties, Christmas parties, off-sites, location meetings, onboarding cohorts. Internal hospitality at the same detail standard as external, because the experience there is just as formative as it is for clients.
Manage Vogel's presence at selected mid-sized business and industry trade fairs – stand concept according to the style guide, logistics, on-site presence. Vogel aesthetics instead of standard conference booths.
Brand Quality Gate and Operations Standards
Filter every event through the Vogel Brand DNA as an ongoing process – warm table culture and archaic reduction as polarities, material vocabulary (Corten steel, travertine, oiled oak, linen, petrol green). For decks for webinars and live events: close coordination with the Brand & Content Lead.
Maintain the guest list in a curation mode – multipliers, clients, senior employees – together with Moritz Vogel, Business Development, and the Brand & Content Lead.
Document reusable Vogel hospitality standards (entrance ritual, service choreography, webinar run-of-show, employee event playbook, trade fair stand specifications) as brand assets. Iterate daily with the Brand & Content Lead, regularly with Moritz on the format roadmap.
Your Perspectives
What you will have delivered after 6 months:
You will have independently managed the first flagship roundtables and retreats and simultaneously taken over the webinar cadence – preparing and following up on all events.
You will have presented your own sketch of the Aalen conference preliminary plan (location shortlist, format architecture, multiplier mapping).
You will have built your own format library – flagship, webinar run-of-show, employee event playbook.
What you will have delivered after 12 months:
You will independently manage fifteen to twenty flagship events plus the ongoing webinar cadence.
You will have architecturally set up the Aalen Conference 2027 – stage, program, catering, entrance experience, brand DNA consistency.
You will have elevated internal employee events – town hall, summer party, off-sites – to the Vogel hospitality standard.
You will have implemented Vogel trade fair appearances with your own stand concept.
You will have developed your own multiplier sourcing mechanism for invitations – curated, in the Vogel table culture, without mass mailings.
What you will have delivered after 24 months:
The Aalen Conference will have been a visible success, with demonstrable reputation in the mid-sized business consulting and client world.
You will be a co-architect of the hospitality and brand experience architecture across multiple locations (Munich, Aalen, potentially others).
You will be a candidate for the next lead level (Lead Event & Brand Experience).
Where the position is developing:
The next step is a senior role such as Lead Event & Brand Experience (IC career) – this requires independently managed hospitality architecture and visible Vogel format reputation, not additional years of experience. Through further responsibility, the path opens along our career framework.
What You Bring
Experience & Track Record
You have three to five years of experience in premium hospitality – in a premium hotel brand (Aman, Rosewood, Soho House, or comparable), a high-end restaurant with service standards, or with a premium event brand with a family office or premium conference profile (Stripe Sessions, Hill House Vintage, or comparable).
You have not only been responsible for flagship events but also for high-frequency operational cadence – webinars, hosted online sessions, premium event series that function repeatedly with the same detail standard.
You have detail ownership – entrance ritual, lighting sensitivity, table wine selection, service choreography. This language of detail is your reference class, not 'event management' in a generic sense.
Profiles that do not fit the above criteria but bring format architecture and premium detail sensitivity are expressly invited – we evaluate based on contribution, not label. Specifically: interior designers with event construction experience, producers from editorial magazines with live format experience. The advertised range calibrates to the primary profile. Those with a different background will start at a different market price and converge to the role level after twelve months of proven performance – the logic behind this is in our compensation principles.
Skills & Working Style
You have a taste for detail – you intuitively recognize in a catering briefing, lighting concept, or seating arrangement what works and what doesn't.
You speak the premium hospitality vocabulary – you understand why Aman, Soho House, and three-star restaurants function differently from standard conference hotels.
You master operational cadence – webinar tooling (Zoom, Hopin, Teams Live, or comparable), run-of-show logic, tech setup, multi-tracking. You resolve operational bottlenecks yourself instead of escalating them.
You use AI as a natural tool for research (location sourcing, multiplier lists), drafting (invitation texts, run-of-show templates), and format iteration.
You iterate independently and quickly – format sketches in hours, not days or weeks. You don't wait for briefings; you bring the idea to the first meeting.
Mindset & Personality
You strive to set the highest standard in everything you deliver – not because someone is checking, but because mediocrity personally bothers you.
You have the humility to learn from practitioners. Clients, senior consultants, and management know things about the mid-sized business world that are not found in any hospitality playbook.
You can handle direct reporting to management – this means rapid iteration, high autonomy, and detail responsibility that others take for granted.
What You Won't Find With Us
Not a classic event manager job with outsourced logistics. You do format architecture and operations simultaneously – from concept to entrance choreography, from webinar tech setup to recording cut.
Not pure webinar marketing. You don't just set up tools for online sessions – you are responsible for the entire brand experience across all event sizes.
Not a glossy agency workflow. We iterate in short cycles, produce in small teams, and work on the details ourselves.
Not a classic mid-sized business consulting event manager job with standard conference hotels. Those who see format architecture as an add-on to logistics setup are in the wrong seat here.
Not a career advancement through personnel span. You grow through technical depth in hospitality and co-architecting the Vogel brand, not by having more direct reports – a mastery career means becoming visible in methodology, not team size.
FAQ
1. What is Vogel – and where do you work?
Vogel is one of Germany's leading mid-sized consultancies – a family business since 1959, based in Aalen – and is building it into the leading consulting platform for mid-sized businesses. We are growing across several locations: in Aalen/Ostwürttemberg as our established headquarters and in Munich as a new hub. At both locations, we are looking for people across all functions – from tax advisory to consulting to the strategic teams building the platform.
2. How are the salary bands to be understood?
Deliberately broad – and indicated at every point. We differentiate based on track record and market value, not on degree: scarce, highly sought-after profiles at the upper end, less scarce ones at the lower end. We calibrate exclusively on the market – two people with similar experience can earn differently with us.
3. How much – and how – do people work at Vogel?
Measurement is based on what you achieve, not on hours. However, it's also true: those looking for 9-to-5 are not our first choice. We seek people who work intensely out of their own drive because the tasks are worthwhile. How you manage your time is largely up to you. What we share: we work together in person – culture, sparring, and the best ideas emerge from daily proximity. We are not a remote company and do not have extensive home office policies; individual remote days are not a problem.
4. How does the application process work?
Lean, fast, transparent – and tiered by profile. For entry-level roles (internships, working student positions, career entry), two interviews and a short work sample are usually sufficient; experienced roles are a bit more extensive. For selected senior roles, we are exploring incorporating a shared workday in the future so that both sides can get to know each other better. Always applicable: scheduled appointments, prompt decisions, substantial feedback – regardless of the outcome.
5. How does variable compensation work?
Tied to performance quarterly, evaluated qualitatively. The scale increases with the level: up to 20% Associate, 27.5% Manager, 35% Senior Manager, 42.5% Director, 50% VP. The expected value with good performance – you meet the requirements, set your own accents, pass the keeper test – is around 50% of the maximum; the maximum bonus is not the norm. The focus is on a holistic assessment by your manager: ownership, quality, learning curve, collaboration, impact.
6. How do I develop myself – what career paths are there?
Two active paths: Mastery (technical depth, expert career) and Pioneer (leadership, management). You choose your direction after onboarding, usually in years 1-3. Career entry is not a special path but the early part of the same track – from working student or intern to Associate, for the best without a new application process.
7. Team, culture, vacation?
A shared lunch is an open daily offer – not mandatory; whoever wants to join does, everyone can eat at any time. In addition, dinners, social events, and off-sites at regular intervals – not as a mandatory program, but because a good team also shares time outside of work. Benefits: well-thought-out and substantial, not symbolic. Vacation: 28 days.
8. I know someone – is there a referral bonus?
Yes – €2,500 for every successfully filled position (no internships). A brief context is enough: who you have in mind, for which role, why. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it should be substantial.
