EV Technician

Job Description About the role Based in Wellington, this role plays a key part the maintenance, diagnostics, and ongoing development of our expanding regional electric truck fleet. With the Waste Management South Division growing to more than 24 electric vehicles in early 2026 and the majority based in Wellington. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the continued performance, safety, and reliability of our WM South heavy EV fleet. You’ll be supported and trained by our specialist EV team. Key responsibilities include: • Conducting routine maintenance checks on electric vehicles to ensure they are in good working order. • Identifying and diagnosing issues with electric vehicles using specialized tools and equipment. • Developing and implementing solutions to resolve identified issues. • Collaborating with the EV team to develop and implement best practices for maintaining and troubleshooting electric vehicles. • Providing technical support and training to other team members as needed. Requirements: • 2+ years of experience working with electric vehicles or a related field. • Strong understanding of electrical systems and mechanics. • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces. • Valid driver’s license. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
