Head of Software Development (m/f/d)

For our client, a software company successful for over 20 years, we are seeking an experienced Head of Software Development (m/f/d) as part of an exclusive mandate.

The company has been developing its own software solutions for over two decades and stands for long-term customer relationships, technological advancement, and sustainable growth. In this key position, you will take responsibility for an 11-person development team while receiving considerable scope for decision-making in technological and strategic matters.

Responsibilities

• You will lead an experienced development team and work closely with management and other relevant company departments. You will combine modern leadership with a strong technical understanding.
• You will be the point of contact for your team, fostering the professional and personal development of employees and creating the framework for high-quality and efficient software development.
• At the same time, you will have the opportunity to actively shape the company's technological direction. Topics such as software architecture, modern development processes, CI/CD, automated testing, and the use of AI in software development will be part of your future environment.
• A particular focus will be on the question of how AI-supported development tools can be meaningfully and sustainably integrated into the daily development workflow.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in leading software development teams
• Sound practical experience in software development
• Good knowledge of software architecture and technology decisions
• Experience with modern development and delivery processes
• Practical experience with CI/CD, code reviews, and automated testing
• Experience with agile working methods such as Scrum and/or Kanban
• The ability to communicate technical contexts understandably, even to non-technical stakeholders
• A modern and appreciative leadership style
• Strategic and entrepreneurial thinking Very good German language skills
• Especially interesting: Experience with AI-supported software development, for example with Claude Code or comparable tools.
