Embedded Software Engineer

CANopen, IO-Link, Profinet, EtherCAT – you know not only what's behind it, but also what matters when these interfaces need to function reliably in safety-critical systems. You develop Embedded Software not for the shelf, but for machines that are in operation. We at TWK have been developing and producing custom sensors for the plant and machinery industry since over 60 years in the growth market of measurement and automation technology. Functional safety for man and machine is our claim – and this cannot be fulfilled with half-baked solutions or endless coordination loops.

Tasks

You'll be responsible for tasks where others are still waiting for approval – these are your themes with us:

• Konzeptionierung, Entwicklung und Implementierung von Embedded Software auf ARM Cortex-Mikrocontrollern (vorrangig STM32)
• Entwicklung für Echtzeitbetriebssysteme, insbesondere FreeRTOS
• Optimierung und Weiterentwicklung bestehender Firmware und Softwarekomponenten auf Basis einer umfangreichen Sensor-Bibliothekslandschaft
• Anbindung von Embedded-Schnittstellen über gängige Bussysteme wie CANopen, IO-Link, Profinet und EtherCAT
• Testen von Software- und Hardwaremodulen sowie Dokumentation im Rahmen der funktionalen Sicherheit (SiL, PLd)
• Analyse, Spezifikation und Umsetzung von Softwareanforderungen in enger Abstimmung mit Produktmanagement und Kunden
• Code Reviews with colleagues to further develop the development results
• Eigenverantwortliche Betreuung von Teilprojekten
• Mitarbeit in interdisziplinären Projektteams

Qualification

You bring technical fundamentals and the claim to really think things through – that's what we expect from you:

• Completed studies in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Technology or a comparable qualification
• Experience in Embedded Software Development
• Safe handling of C; knowledge of Python, .NET and/or C# is advantageous
• Result-oriented, self-responsible thinking and acting
• Outstanding teamwork and communicative strength
• Very good German language skills and at least good English language skills in writing and speaking
• Precise and structured working method

We're also impressed by:

• Knowledge of telecommunications (bus communication, radio systems)
• Experience with real-time operating systems on microcontrollers
• Familiarity with Git as a version control system
