Job description
Télécom Paris, an international multidisciplinary center for training, research, and innovation, is a benchmark in the digital world.
We are seeking a researcher and lecturer within the Signal, Statistics, and Learning [S2A] team of the Image, Data, and Signal (IDS) department.
You will hold a prestigious Hi! PARIS Chair accompanied by an exceptional recruitment package (~€300K), designed to accelerate your scientific ambitions. Télécom Paris is a partner of the Hi! PARIS Cluster 2030 program, an ambitious initiative aiming to build a world-class research and training hub in artificial intelligence and data science. The consortium brings together several leading French institutions, including IP Paris, HEC Paris, INRIA, CNRS, and financial support from France 2030 IA Cluster.
You will conduct interdisciplinary research in statistical learning (theory and algorithms) in relation to the methodological questions raised by quantum computing. The prospect of exploiting quantum superposition/entanglement properties via quantum computers has recently led to the emergence of the field of quantum statistical learning (learning for quantum information processing and quantum computing for learning), which aims to design new types of algorithms and develop solid theoretical foundations for them and is experiencing rapid development. The possibility offered by quantum technology to explore very large spaces, very quickly, and to process massive amounts of data allows us to envisage the advent of new learning paradigms.
Your main missions will therefore be to:
Conduct research in your scientific field.
Participate in the development of partnerships, collaborations, and contractual relationships.
Participate in the design and implementation of teaching in your scientific field (reduced teaching load).
We are looking for candidates whose work revolves around Quantum AI and who can:
design statistical inference/learning techniques adapted to the analysis of quantum information (e.g., structured/functional data, graphical models)
develop learning algorithms leveraging the properties of quantum physics (e.g., qubits) for scaling
master the English language.
The expertise sought is therefore as follows:
Quantum computing
High-dimensional statistics, structured/functional data
Simulation, stochastic approximation/optimization
Incremental, sequential, active, reinforcement statistical learning
