Bantrel has an exciting opportunity for Civil/Structural Engineering students to support our Energy Team this summer. You will support Energy related projects from the Edmonton office. This position will be starting in May 2026 for a 4-month term.

The Structural Engineering Summer Student will perform assignments that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Exercise limited but increasing judgment in performing assigned tasks. Using prescribed methods, perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment under the direction of an experienced engineer.

Duties & Responsibilities (may include and are not limited to):

  • Develop simple structural analysis models using STAAD.Pro, or S-Frame.
  • Develop simple structural steel, foundations and piling calculations for buildings, pipe racks, equipment structures using Excel.
  • Utilize NBCC, company and industry design guides to develop structural calculations.
  • Make basic decisions/planning concerning day-to-day engineering calculation and analysis.
  • Receive technical supervision from an engineering supervisor on all the above tasks.
  • Maintain contact with the work group or discipline and interfaces with other disciplines as required.
  • Communicate effectively intra and inter discipline.
