Engineering Manager (m/f/d)

• You will lead our software engineers in a disciplinary and technical capacity. You will work closely with several cross-functional teams and support them in their personal and professional development.
• You will ensure that our engineering activities are aligned with the corporate vision and Xempus' strategic product goals.
• You will be responsible for technical initiatives from conception to productive operation – including technical planning, architecture, quality assurance, and further development.
• Together with Product Owners, you will prioritize technical topics in the product backlog and create transparency about dependencies, risks, and necessary investments.
• You will make well-founded technical decisions, review solution approaches, and ensure compliance with engineering standards, best practices, and quality requirements.
• You will work closely with Product, Operations, Customer-facing Teams, and other stakeholders to connect technical possibilities with business requirements.
• You will continuously develop our engineering processes, knowledge management formats, and standards.
• You will support the long-term development and modernization of our platform – with a focus on stability, performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• You will accompany projects and products into productive operation and ensure reliable ongoing operation together with the teams.

• You have profound experience in software development and software architecture and can explain technical contexts understandably to different target groups.
• You bring extensive experience in Java development – ideally with in-depth expertise in the Spring Framework, especially Spring Boot, as well as in common Java libraries and standards.
• You can quickly familiarize yourself with large, complex codebases, recognize overarching connections, and derive well-founded architectural decisions from them.
• You have a very good understanding of software architecture, design patterns, clean code, and modern engineering principles.
• You think strategically and can develop and implement long-term plans for the further development, modernization, and step-by-step improvement of established systems.
• You enjoy analyzing, refactoring, and sustainably improving existing systems – without losing sight of stability and performance.
• You are familiar with databases, APIs, and the entire software development process – from technical conception through implementation to operation.
• You have experience in technical and disciplinary leadership as well as in coaching and developing software engineers.
• You can structure and prioritize technical projects and successfully implement them together with various stakeholders.
• You actively drive the use of AI – from AI-assisted software development and automated quality assurance to optimizing our development workflows.
• You communicate confidently with technical and non-technical contacts and act with confidence between engineering, product, management, and external partners.
• You enjoy working in an agile environment, constructively dealing with change, and actively contributing to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
• Experience with JavaScript Frontend Frameworks (Vue.js, React) is a plus.
• You combine technical understanding with a good sense for business contexts and entrepreneurial priorities.
• You have fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken.
