Engineering Manager

We are looking for an IT Engineering Manager to join our team and work with great clients in Mexico.

• Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance database architectures in SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Azure.
• Define standards and best practices for database management.
• Evaluate and recommend new database technologies and tools.
• Proactively monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply optimizations (indexes, queries, server configuration, etc.).
• Perform root cause analysis for performance incidents and propose long-term solutions.
• Design, implement, and manage high-availability solutions (clustering, replication, AlwaysOn, Patroni, etc.) and disaster recovery plans.
• Perform periodic tests of the disaster recovery plans.
• Implement and maintain security policies, including access management, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
• Ensure protection against vulnerabilities and threats.
• Plan and execute database migrations (on-premise to Azure, between versions, etc.).
• Manage updates and patches for database systems.
• Develop scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python, T-SQL, PL/pgSQL) to automate routine administrative tasks, monitoring, and deployment.
• Provide expert-level technical support for critical incidents and complex problems.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and application teams to resolve database-related issues.
• Manage and optimize PaaS database services in Azure (Azure SQL Database, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance).
• Manage costs, backups, security, and monitoring of databases in the Azure environment.
• Serve as a technical reference and mentor to other DBA team members.
• Share knowledge and promote best practices within the team.
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation on database architecture, configurations, and procedures.

Requirements

• Experience with Node JS, Net Core, JAVA, GO.
• Experience with design patterns, scalability, availability, fault tolerance.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, OpenStack.
• Experience with segregation of duties, reengineering.
• Experience with API concepts, reengineering/apification.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes.
• Experience managing teams, at least 3+ cells/pods.
• Certification with PMI or similar.
• Availability to work in client office when required.
