Engineering Manager - Entertainment (H/F)
Job description
- A powerful and innovative gaming engine: dynamic adaptation of game offerings, highly configurable poker games, fraud detection
- A distributed and scalable architecture designed to process the platform's real-time streams
- A modular platform subject to high availability and data security constraints, capable of handling large audiences
ABOUT THE POSITION
Within the Entertainment team, you will be the Tech Lead for a team of nine developers. You will actively participate in the design, development, and deployment of Winamax promotional operations, while supporting the team on a daily basis.
These operations, related to our poker and sports betting universes, take the form of mini-games and interactive campaigns based on strong application logic (rules, winnings, states), developed mostly *from scratch* and exposed to a high volume of users.
As a hands-on Tech Lead, you will have a hybrid role: you will stay involved in coding (about 50% of your time) on the most complex issues, while taking on the role of manager and technical point of contact. You will work in a pragmatic environment where stability, performance, and delivery quality are key challenges.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Management & Leadership:
- Supervise, motivate, and develop a team of Fullstack developers (regular follow-ups, 1-to-1s, mentoring, career development).
- Organize and streamline the team's work (task breakdown, estimation, prioritization) in collaboration with the Product Owner.
- Promote good development practices and ensure code quality through *code reviews*.
- Organize and streamline the team's work: task breakdown, estimation, prioritization, and delivery milestone planning.
- Ensure deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality, anticipate risks (technical or planning) and propose mitigation plans.
Architecture & Development (Hands-on):
- Design and develop application components (primarily back-end microservices in Node.js, while maintaining a view on front-end integration).
- Implement the complex logic of operations (game rules, winnings, validations) and manage high-volume issues.
- Champion the team's technical vision: architectural choices, project structuring, definition of technical specifications.
- Ensure production deployment and post-production monitoring (stability, monitoring, alerts, incident management).
TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT & CHALLENGES
- Back-end: Node.js (untranspiled TypeScript with JSDoc).
- Fullstack Ecosystem: ability to interact with and guide the team on Front-end issues (React/Vue, animation, web integration) related to mini-games.
- Events: Kafka (consumer groups, reprocessing, error management).
- Public APIs: stable contracts, versioning, performance, and backward compatibility.
- Real-time Performance: low latency, high throughput, observability (logs, metrics).
- Concurrency & Reliability: idempotence, retry management, race conditions.
- MySQL (modeling, transactions, query optimization). Redis / Valkey (cache-aside, cache/DB consistency, latency reduction).
- Architecture: Hexagonal (ports & adapters), high demand for testability and maintainability.
REQUIRED PROFILE
Graduating from an engineering school or holding a Master's degree in computer science, with solid experience in software development, particularly in Back-End (Node.js) with a good understanding of Front-End challenges, you have successful experience as a Tech Lead, Lead Developer, or Engineering Manager.
Driven by the desire to grow your teams, you have the necessary perspective to make structuring technical decisions and design robust architectures.
Very comfortable with distributed systems, high load, and scalability issues, you have a strong interest in *clean code* and building ultra-reliable production systems. Finally, autonomous, pragmatic, and with excellent interpersonal skills, you will thrive in an environment where your deliveries will have a direct impact.
