The Client
A well-established, technology-led organisation is looking for an Engineering Manager (Data) to lead and grow its data engineering capability during a period of continued platform and analytics maturity.
The Role
You will lead a team of 6 data engineers and take ownership of the data platforms that underpin analytics, reporting and data-driven decision making across the business. The role offers a clear 60/40 split between people leadership and hands-on technical contribution, making it ideal for an experienced data leader who still enjoys staying close to the technology.
This position has genuine ownership over data architecture, delivery standards and platform reliability, and works closely with analytics, product, marketing and engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.

Key focus areas
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of data engineers
- Own data lake, analytics and warehouse architecture end to end
- Design, build and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines
- Drive data quality, governance, security and compliance standards
- Partner closely with analytics, product and marketing teams
- Oversee CI/CD processes, monitoring and platform performance
- Promote best practice, continuous improvement and modern data engineering approaches
- Data lakes and analytics platforms
- Snowflake
- Bash, SQL, Python, Spark
- Data warehousing and analytics tooling
- Proven experience leading data engineering teams
- Strong background in modern data architectures and cloud platforms
- Comfortable operating at both a technical and leadership level
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
