Job Title: Engineering Manager — AI & Cloud Platforms

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead engineers building Java/Spring applications on AWS that leverage generative AI (LLMs). This hybrid role is based in India and requires overlap with Vietnam and U.S. working hours. You will set technical direction, deliver scalable and secure systems, and collaborate closely with product, design, and applied science teams. We need both technical leadership and hands-on coding, roughly 50/50 split, for this role.

• Location: Delhi, India OR Bangalore, India (Hybrid)
• Schedule: Occasional overlap with U.S. hours required and overlap with Vietnam working hours.
• Typical tech: Java, Spring, Spring AI, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
• Focus: Building backend systems with generative AI/LLM solutions to deliver business features

Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

• Recruit, mentor, and grow a collaborative, high-performing engineering team. Foster ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, code reviews, and enforce engineering best practices and quality standards.
• Run effective 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development plans.

Technical Strategy & Delivery

• Define and deliver the technical roadmap aligned to business priorities; prioritize work for maximum impact.
• Make architecture decisions to ensure scalability, resilience, security, and operational efficiency on AWS.
• Improve delivery through CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and DevOps practices.

AI/ML & LLM

• Lead development of AI/generative AI features using Spring AI and AWS AI services, emphasizing measurable outcomes and safe deployment.
• Establish responsible AI practices, experimentation workflows, and production guardrails for models and prompts.
• Integrate LLM-based developer tools and frameworks (e.g., LangChain) to create maintainable business workflows.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with product, UX, and applied science teams to translate requirements into clear engineering plans.
• Communicate technical concepts and project status clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Champion agile practices and effective cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

Required

• Proficient in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of Java development experience and solid knowledge of OOP and design patterns.
• 5+ years working with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB) and experience building microservices.
• Hands-on experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• 5+ years managing and mentoring engineering teams with a track record of delivering complex software using agile methods.
• Experience partnering with users and leadership to define product and technical strategy.

Preferred

• Experience building generative AI/LLM applications, strong prompt design skills, and deploying responsible AI in production.
• Familiarity with Spring AI, LangChain, and AWS AI/ML services.
• Experience integrating LLM developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) into engineering workflows.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) is a plus.
