Job description

AdaptX Systems is a Berlin-based technology startup with a clear goal:
We make industrial production more efficient, cleaner, and future-oriented.

To achieve this, we develop innovative cooling systems and measurement adaptations for machine tools, as an alternative to flooding and oil lubrication, and with a clear focus on productivity and sustainability. Our solutions are directly integrated into existing machine tools and combine mechanics, thermodynamics, electronics, and software into a comprehensive system. Together with leading industrial partners, we shape the future of production anew and bring our technology step by step from the lab to series production.

Aufgaben

Your Role:

As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the measurement and control intelligence of our systems. You will design and develop the architecture for sensorics, data acquisition, temperature, and machine control of our closed-loop cooled workpiece systems, including connection to the machine tool and laying the foundation for automated process monitoring and adaptive system configuration. You will shape the interface between hardware, embedded software, and higher-level analysis and evaluation systems. Your focus lies on developing robust, real-time capable embedded solutions that can reliably operate under industrial conditions with rotating components and high dynamic thermal loads. You will accompany the development comprehensively, from the first idea to prototypes, validation, and industrial readiness. You will make independent system- and architecture-related decisions and represent the embedded perspective in an interdisciplinary development team that combines mechanical design, thermal modeling, simulation-based analysis, and process development.

Your Tasks:

Embedded and Measurement Technology Development:

  • Development and integration of sensorics to capture measurement and state variables at the machine tool and relevant interfaces to the machine
  • Design of hardware-based robust data acquisition and signal processing for rotating, thermally, and fluidically loaded systems
  • Selection and connection of suitable microcontroller- and embedded-platforms

  • Development of a real-time capable embedded architecture for continuous processing of measurement data
  • Implementation of stable communication interfaces to the cooling unit, machine peripherals, and higher-level software platforms
  • Building of state-, diagnosis-, and error-monitoring on the embedded level

Control & Adaptive Systems:

  • Development and implementation of control architecture for the cooling system and adjacent machine functions
  • Integration of data-based and KI-supported control- and analysis approaches into a real-time capable embedded environment
  • Supporting automated system configuration and process-adaptive control based on captured measurement data

System Integration & Validation:

  • BUILDING, commissioning, and testing of complete system prototypes at test stands and machines
  • Analysis of measurement- and operating data, as well as derivation of improvement measures for hardware and control

Qualification

  • Mechatronics, Technical Informatics or comparable

  • Experience in embedded software development (e.g. C/C++, ideally with RTOS)

  • Knowledge of sensorics, signal processing, and data acquisition

  • Basic understanding of control technology and real-time systems

  • Systemic thinking and interest in interdisciplinary technical questions

  • Hands-on mentality and joy in working with real hardware

  • Very good German and good English skills

  • Optional:

Experience with industrial measurement technology, machine integration or retrofitting; touchpoints with data-based analysis or KI approaches in the industrial environment

Benefits

Design Freedom: You are involved from the start and shape our product actively with

Purpose & Impact: Your engineering creates measurable environmental benefits and industrial efficiency

Startup Environment: Short distances, quick decisions, responsibility from day one

Learning at Product: Direct exchange with founders, industrial partners, and customers

Flexible Work: Hybrid model with workshop/office access in Berlin
