Then this position might be just right for you.

Our client develops and manufactures autonomous drone systems, operational software, and specialized solutions for industry, network operators, authorities, and maritime applications. This results in highly specialized systems that combine hardware, software, and autonomous technologies, and are already in use by well-known customers.

An experienced individual is sought for the further development of the drone systems, who will take responsibility for hardware-related software, further develop existing systems, and bring new functions to flight testing together with a small technical team.

Your Benefits

  • Attractive remuneration: A performance-related fixed salary that matches your experience and qualifications.

  • Scope for action: High degree of personal responsibility in the further development of central software components and technical structures.

  • Development perspective: In the long term, there is the possibility of taking on technical responsibility for the software team.

  • Technology environment: Work on innovative drone systems, embedded software, and autonomous technologies with direct relevance to hardware.

  • Practical relevance: Short paths from development to flight testing and the opportunity to test new functions directly in the real system.

  • Flexibility: After onboarding, home office is possible by arrangement, although regular work on hardware requires on-site presence.

  • Work environment: Own workshop and test grounds, as well as modern hardware and software for development and testing.

  • Company culture: Short decision-making processes, direct collaboration with management, and an open 'Du' (informal address) culture.

  • Team spirit: Regular joint activities and team events ensure a personal and uncomplicated working atmosphere.

Your Tasks

As an Embedded Software Developer, you will take on a central role in the further development of the flight control and operator software of our drone systems.

  • Flight Control: Technical responsibility for the further development of the flight control software and its reliable operation on the target hardware.

  • Ground Control Software: Further development of modern operator software based on Qt and QML for mission planning, drone monitoring, and payload control.

  • Codebase: Familiarization with existing software structures, documentation of the architecture, and establishment of clean processes for tests, releases, and updates.

  • Hardware Integration: Connection and integration of sensors, radio modules, cameras, charging systems, and other payloads.

  • Debugging: Analysis of flight logs, evaluation of technical data, and systematic troubleshooting directly on the target hardware.

  • Flight Testing: Accompanying and conducting flight tests as well as technical support during trials and occasional customer deployments.

  • Technical Leadership: Technical supervision of an apprentice and working students, conducting code reviews, and actively sharing knowledge.

  • Architecture: Participation in technical architecture decisions in close coordination with management.

  • Collaboration: Close coordination with hardware development, design, and the workshop to jointly develop software and the overall system.

Your Profile as an Embedded Software Developer

  • At least five years of professional experience in software development, predominantly in the embedded field or in hardware-related C and C++ development.

  • Very good practical knowledge of modern C++, Qt, and QML. As well as Linux and Git.

  • Experience in independently familiarizing yourself with extensive existing codebases and quickly understanding complex software structures.

  • Sound experience in hardware-related debugging, particularly with sensors, interfaces such as UART, CAN, SPI, or I2C, as well as analysis of logs and error patterns on target hardware.

  • Structured and independent work style as well as the willingness to document and share technical solutions and knowledge in a comprehensible manner.

  • Enjoyment of collaboration with hardware development and technical departments, as well as an interest in testing software directly on the real system.

  • Willingness to work regularly on-site and to participate in flight tests and occasional customer deployments.

  • Fluent German and good English skills

  • Nice to have

    • Knowledge in ArduPilot or PX4, MAVLink, or DroneCAN.
