Electrician Companion

The electrician companion position involves installing, maintaining and repairing cables, equipment and electrical appliances.

Tasks

• Direct and train workers to install, maintain, repair cables, equipment and electrical appliances

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electric or electronic cables, equipment, appliances, devices and accessories using hand tools and power tools;

• Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components;

• Diagnose system, appliance and component malfunctions using testing equipment and hand tools to identify the cause of a failure and correct the problem;

• Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure compliance with codes;

• Maintain an electrician's license or other document card meeting government regulations;

• Plan cable layout, equipment and appliance installation based on specifications and local codes;

• Repair or replace cable, equipment and appliances using hand tools and power tools;

• Test continuity of circuits in cables, equipment and appliances using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes;

• Use a variety of tools and equipment like construction materials, measurement devices, electrical tools and test equipment, including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps.

Qualifications and requirements

• Education from a specialized school;

• Certificate of qualification (license «C»)

• Ability to determine the causes of malfunctioning errors and determine how to correct them and repair machines or systems using necessary tools.

Work conditions
