Ramsay Engineering is a leading Queensland-based manufacturer of custom electrical switchboards, sheet-metal solutions, and engineered electrical systems supporting commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects across Australia. As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Technician to join our high-performing Engineering and Production team.

Position Overview

The Electrical Engineering Technician will support the electrical engineering team in the design, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning of low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) switchboards and associated control systems. The role requires strong technical competence, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist electrical engineers in the design and development of LV and MV switchboards, control panels, and electrical assemblies.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, single line diagrams (SLD), schematics, and wiring schedules.
  • Assemble, wire, and test electrical switchboards and control systems according to AS/NZS 61439 and other applicable standards.
  • Inspect electrical components, identify faults, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Perform functional testing, insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, and FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing).
  • Prepare technical reports, quality checklists, testing records, and documentation for compliance and certification.
  • Coordinate with production, engineering, and site teams to ensure accurate installation and commissioning.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including efficiency, safety, and quality enhancements.
  • Maintain safe work practices and contribute to WHS/ISO compliance within the workshop and testing bays.

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or Certificate IV in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Electrotechnology, or related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in electrical switchboards, panel manufacturing, HVAC controls, automation systems, or industrial electrical systems.
  • Strong ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 61439, IEC standards, or similar electrical compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and testing electrical control circuits.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and within a project-based manufacturing environment.
