2-month contract position with a local authority

Summary
  • This is a 2-month contract position with a local authority, working as part of a team of Early Help Family Practitioners. The role involves delivering interventions within a multi-agency system to provide intensive support to families with multiple and complex needs. The practitioner will conduct child-centered holistic family assessments using evidence-based tools to identify adverse childhood experiences and factors affecting family functioning. The goal is to increase resilience, enhance parenting capacity, and promote strong child-parent attachments to support positive child outcomes.
Responsibilities
  • Work as an Early Help Family Practitioner in line with Hackney Family Support Practice Guidance and Multi-Agency Team protocol.
  • Promote a safe environment that safeguards children, ensuring adherence to appropriate safeguarding procedures.
  • Provide structured and individualised support to children and families using assessment tools like Hackney’s Early Help Assessment Form, creating individual plans with agreed outcomes, targets, and review dates.
  • Act as the lead professional for individual families, coordinating and sharing information at MAT Meetings, and supporting team around the child meetings.
  • Support parents/carers in caring for their child through targeted work at home, group work, and coordinated services, addressing barriers such as housing and financial issues.
  • Coordinate and deliver parenting groups to help parents/carers understand their child’s needs and strengthen their parenting skills.
Requirements
  • Significant experience working with children and families.
  • Experience providing parenting support and delivering parenting programs, groups, or forums to vulnerable families with complex needs.
  • Experience offering advice, information, and guidance to families to build resilience and capacity.
  • Experience with a child-centered and outcomes-based approach to working with children and families.
  • Experience visiting and delivering interventions in family homes.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in childcare & education, primary education, work with parents, health, or social work.
  • Level 4 Award in Work with Parents.
Additional Information
  • Enhanced DBS required for the role.
