Kijimea – From Research. For Your Life. Since our founding in 2011, we have pursued a clear vision: We want to specifically harness the potential of the microbiota (bacteria) in our gut for a longer and healthier life – for all people.

We achieved a first major milestone as early as 2013 with the discovery and clinical research of the unique bacterial strain B. bifidum MIMBb75 (Kijimea Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Since then, we have been able to noticeably improve the lives of millions of irritable bowel syndrome patients worldwide. Today, B. bifidum MIMBb75 is one of the best-researched bacterial strains worldwide. Its effectiveness and unique mechanism of action have been proven and published in numerous clinical studies – including in renowned journals such as The Lancet.

We work with leading research institutions such as Charité Berlin to investigate the connections between the microbiota (bacteria in our gut) and allergies, skin diseases, and psychological disorders. In short: We are investigating how the bacteria in our gut influence a longer and healthier life.

Your Mission With Us

Do you want to actively drive the technical development of an international Shopify PLUS shop and shape the future of digital commerce with automation, AI, and pragmatic solutions? Then you are exactly right with us!

As an E-Commerce Web Developer Shopify, you will assume operational and technical responsibility for our Shopify and e-commerce ecosystem across 11 markets. You will connect frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, automations, and the relevant tool stack into a reliable, scalable platform, thereby creating the foundation for further growth and optimization initiatives.

Your Tasks

• You will take on technical projects end-to-end – from problem definition through implementation to rollout – and independently develop new use cases, for example for TikTok Shop or WhatsApp.

• You will work closely with product management, operations, accounting, and other stakeholders, translating complex requirements into pragmatic technical solutions.

• You will optimize the digital shopping experience data-based through A/B tests, conversion optimization, and experiments with tools like Kameleoon or ABlyft.

• You will evaluate suitable e-commerce, AI, and automation tools, integrate them into our system landscape, and continuously develop the tool stack.

• You will automate recurring processes with n8n, Zapier, or comparable tools, and also use code and MCP-supported workflows to increase speed and scalability.

• You will develop robust API connections, data flows, backend logic, and, if necessary, Shopify apps or custom solutions for our business requirements.

• You will conceptualize, operate, and improve interfaces between e-commerce and internal systems such as accounting, operations, CRM, and analytics tools.

• You will further develop our Shopify themes and implement technically clean, performant frontend solutions with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• You will ensure reliable operation and are responsible for the configuration, monitoring, support, and continuous development of our shop.

• You will assume overall technical responsibility for the architecture, technology, and tool stack of our international Shopify PLUS shop across 11 markets.

Your Profile

• You have approximately 2-3 years of relevant experience in a modern e-commerce environment, ideally in the direct-to-consumer sector.

• You have sound knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in the Shopify and e-commerce context.

• You have a genuine passion for e-commerce, digital transformation, AI-driven development, and automation, and deliver reliably in high quality even under time pressure.

• You enjoy taking responsibility, work independently with little day-to-day supervision, proactively identify areas for improvement, and implement them with measurable impact.

• You are a pragmatic, solution-oriented builder with a hands-on mentality and work analytically and structurally, even with complex requirements.

• Ideally, you have worked with Shopify or Shopify PLUS and are familiar with shop and app configuration. Experience with Magento, WooCommerce, or comparable platforms is a good alternative.

• You are familiar with relevant e-commerce systems around CRM, reviews, analytics, testing, and other operational tools.

• You use AI daily and practically for development, prompting, workflow design, and technical problem-solving, and can assess and adapt AI-generated code.

• You have practical experience with automations, for example with n8n, Zapier, or comparable tools, and are familiar with code-supported workflows.

• You bring a broad technical understanding of backend processes, APIs, integrations, and data flows, and can categorize requirements across frontend and backend.

• You have very good German language skills (C2) and very good English language skills (C1). If your German is not yet C2, even better English skills are required accordingly.
