Domestic Violence Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Domestic Violence Support Worker to provide specialist, culturally sensitive support to survivors of domestic violence from South Asian communities. This role is essential in ensuring survivors can access support in their first language and in a way that recognises cultural, family, and immigration-related barriers.

You will deliver trauma-informed, survivor-centred support to empower individuals to increase safety, wellbeing, and independence.

Provide one-to-one emotional and practical support to survivors of domestic violence

Deliver support in a South Asian language to ensure accessibility and understanding

Conduct risk assessments and safety planning

Support survivors with housing, legal options, immigration issues (where relevant), benefits, and health referrals

Advocate on behalf of clients with statutory and voluntary agencies

Maintain accurate, confidential case records

Participate in multi-agency working, including MARAC where appropriate

Promote survivor choice, empowerment, and confidentiality at all times

Follow safeguarding procedures for adults and children

Fluency in at least one South Asian language (e.g. Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Sylheti)

Experience supporting individuals affected by domestic violence, abuse, or other complex needs

Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and its impact

Ability to work in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive manner

Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Ability to work independently and manage a caseload

Relevant qualification (e.g. IDVA, social care, counselling, or equivalent experience)

Experience working with South Asian or other minoritised communities

Knowledge of immigration-related abuse and “no recourse to public funds”

Experience of multi-agency working and MARAC processes
